Job Description

Job Description:
Candidate will work onsite at Aberdeen Test Center (ATC), located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Candidate will work independently and in groups within the team of government and contractor personnel in support of the ATC mission. Performs technical assignments that may not be completely standardized or prescribed for the test and evaluation of soldier systems projects, test items and related material, documentation, training, instrumentation and methodologies. Receives instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; performs recurring work independently; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or for conformity with instructions.

  • Performs and/or assists the Test Officer or Senior Engineer with testing associated with transportability, construction and material handling equipment, tactical bridging, watercraft, petroleum and water systems, power generation and distribution systems, tactical hard and soft shelters, sensors and detection systems, foreign military items, Soldier protection and individual equipment, force protection and sustainment systems and integrated Soldier systems.
  • Applies conventional engineering practices to analyze schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings, and parts lists. Examples of designs include circuit diagrams, hardware fittings or test equipment.
  • Conducts specific test or experimental procedures requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of equipment test procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records data.
  • Performs one or a combination of typical duties, such as proper power up/shut down of load bank operational procedures, set up of voltage and frequency configurations and fault resets, calculations of percentage loads at 25/50/75/100%, connecting 3 phase and single-phase power, and set up and conduct testing for 120/208 V and 416 V voltage ratings.
  • May perform one or more of the following system transportability test duties: Rigs systems and equipment for crane and helicopter lift, restraint in or aboard commercial and military cargo carriers, and tensile proof loading.
  • Uses judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seeks sources to clarify information.
Job Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Job Requirements:

  • Must have 5 yr. of applicable experience; or at least 60 credit hours or an associate degree and 3 yrs. applicable experience; or 30 credit hours and 4 yrs. applicable experience; or completion of a formal training program and 3 yrs. applicable experience; or a bachelor’s degree and 1 year applicable experience.
  • Shall possess basic computer skills.
  • Respiratory Protection qualified, to include medical screening, fit checks, and Respiratory Protection Training, as dictated by Mission requirements.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds and wearing personal protective equipment for assigned work tasks. Work may be performed in the field subject to the environment and sometimes in an environmentally controlled office environment.

Bonus Skills:

  • Possess a license to operate forklift(s) and other required support equipment.
  • Possess Overhead Bridge Crane operator license; shall possess Crane Car Operator license.
  • Possess a Class A Commercial Driver'S License (CDL).
