Service Technician – Yard Crew in Rensselaer, NY – Onsite Position in Rensselaer, NY

The Service Technician will be responsible for performing tasks required to keep the yard clean and orderly. This position will also perform routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment. In addition, this position with work with external contract services for maintenance purposes and other work needs. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Maintain the appearance of the yard to include mowing lawns, removal of leaves, trimming hedges, within the fence line and removing debris site wide. This includes pumping of the dykes to remove standing water.
  2. Responsible for the removal of snow from sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and all areas where pedestrian or vehicles may travel using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals. This includes ensuring that all buildings have the appropriate snow removal equipment and salt at each entry way. 
  3. Perform routine maintenance tasks on mechanical systems, or equipment which may include disassembly of machinery and equipment. Sand and prepare surfaces for painting to include parts, buildings, vessels, and other facilities type work. 
  4. Perform preventative maintenance on snow and yard equipment prior to the commencement of the season and preventative maintenance & cleaning at the end of season. 
  5. Responsible for the care, storage, and security of all tools in the yard sheds. 
  6. Document and complete all Maintenance activities in the work order system CMMS.
  7. Responsible for pest control program ensuring that all records and work completed on site meet or exceed AMRI quality and safety standards. 
  8. Coordinate on site cleaning & repair of roadways and parking lots with external contractors.
  9. Coordinate with external contract services to ensure that the wood, metal, trash, and recycle dumpsters are emptied appropriately and service work is performed on a periodic basis. 
  10. Travel off site to procure or deliver parts to various approved contractors around the site. 
  11. Coordinate disposal of batteries and miscellaneous materials from building 30 to assigned areas throughout the site.
  12. Escort external contractors as necessary to ensure compliance with safety policies when employees don’t have a contractor’s badge. 
  13. Occasionally clean laboratory equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, power cleaning equipment, and cGMP dishwasher. 
  14. Assist as necessary in the removal of glassware from the lab to include lab waste.
  15. Support janitorial duties as needed to support janitorial staff especially during shut down periods. This will include leading a team to buff the floors in the office and packout areas. 
  16. Assist in moving heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks. 
  17. Perform all duties within the guidelines outlined by Good Manufacturing Practices for active pharmaceutical intermediates.
  18. Perform all duties in an environmentally compliant manner in accordance with the AMRI Rensselaer Environmental Program.
  19. Identify and suggest methods to increase the quality of products and/or service as appropriate.
  20. Participate in self-development activities and training of others to include identifying training opportunities.
  21. Complete the Service Technician Core Competency in the Learning Management System.
  22. Perform all duties safely in accordance with AMRI Rensselaer Safety Program.
  23. Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
  24. Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; advanced degree preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be capable of operating heavy machinery to include JLG, Scissor Lifts, Trucks, and Front-End Loaders. 
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs

Language/Communication Skills

  • Communication skills and an ability to work with others in a team environment is necessary as well as interactivity with coworkers to address minor problems.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Incumbent may be required to obtain/qualify for and maintain the clearance to wear a respirator at a “class B” level or above following OSHA mandated guidelines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The majority of the time this position will work inside buildings that have environmental controls (Heat and Air Conditioning). Some time will be spent in the production buildings and on plant grounds. Hard hat, safety glasses and safety shoes are required. However, this protective equipment is only required for the employee to safely access the restrooms, break rooms and office areas in the production buildings. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay Range: $29.53/hour - $26.73/hour

Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
