I - Job Purpose and Summary:
Reporting to the Site General Manager, the purpose of this role is to create, improve, lead, and optimize the PGP Evansville Warehouse team to achieve a performance level where the site can truly claim to be and recognized both internally and externally as Best in Class. The core competency of the role will ensure the efficient use of labor to achieve the inbound, warehousing, and outbound schedule.
This person will operate as part of the PGP Evansville Operations Leadership Team, recruiting, developing, and coaching a team to create high level performance and continuous improvements. The role will ensure that engagement and high levels of performance remain a priority through the ongoing operation of the site.
The role will ensure high levels of leadership in HSE, Food Safety, Warehouse Performance. The role will drive the site into exceptional high performance across the warehouse balanced scorecard- safety, quality, performance, cost and people.
II - Key Accountabilities:
1.
Health, Safety & Environment:
This role will be responsible and accountable for the HSE and Food Safety performance of the team through the adherence to all PGPs Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as to all relevant OSHA regulations in order to achieve ZERO workplace incidents and injuries. The role will ensure that all warehouse work - loading, unloading, driving, inspections, counting and GMP are completed according to PGPs HSE policies & procedures. Ensure that a physically safe working environment exists and that as a minimum the standards set out in the HSE, and Food Safety manuals are met. Ensure teams follow the correct procedures, policies, and documentation requirements on a day-to-day basis. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with legal regulations.
2.
Food Safety & Quality:
This role will ensure that improvement plans will deliver year on year benefits in the areas of safety, environment, customer complaints, Good Manufacturing Practices, hygiene, warehouse standards and work standards of the site. Responsible for ensuring that all warehouse policy standards and systems operate in accordance with the PGP food safety plan standards, BRC and other related standards, customer requirements and any ABF requirements. These policies and systems must be reviewed at an agreed interval frequency.
3.
Warehousing:
Ensure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency - with customer satisfaction as the primary goal - by supervising, organizing, training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operational goals. Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory, gate processes, and shipping methods. Train and manage the warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals. Oversee daily operations while controlling and managing inventory and logistics. Review and prepare workflows, staffing requirements, space allocations, equipment layouts, and action plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service. Supervise daily warehouse activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service. Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance when necessary. Meet daily with warehouse team to analyze productivity and develop actionable plans for loss prevention and efficiency reduction. Oversee and manage logistics for transporting products to customers and company facilities, communicating with drivers and logistics partners to ensure efficient delivery of loads. Work with the Head Office Control Tower in booking loads, appointments, and load levelling during the weekly inbound/outbound schedule.
4.
People:
Schedule and oversee warehouse team and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime. Monitor staff / area owned (warehouse) for adherence to Food Safety Programs (Kosher, GFCO (Gluten-Free), Organic, Non-GMO, etc.). Ensure the training and development of staff is maintained. Manage warehouse team members, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment. Establish warehouse practices and protocols to achieve an efficient warehouse. Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with the Site General Manager. Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees. Educate and provide warehouse knowledge to the team as well as the management team. Delegate and allocate responsibilities efficiently to manage initiatives and projects from end to end. Involvement in the selection process for reports within the team. Owns the training and development needs of individuals within the team. Understands and identifies technically related training requirements at all levels in the business to ensure that all employees are properly equipped to undertake their roles. Ensure any changes contribute towards delivering a flexible operation, that is well equipped to respond to changing demand levels and customer mix.
5.
Inventory Management:
Ensure that all team members efficiently always use the scan guns to scan in, move, prepare, stage, and scan out pallets of product as they are moved and loaded to customers. Prepare and analyze inventory reports, reviews effectiveness of operating procedures and drive changes for improvements as needed. Using the ERP system, manage storage strategy and production supply processes maintaining ingredient availability for production demands. Ensure that regular cycle counting is conducted, and any variances are dealt with immediately as follow up and improvement. Lead and participate in the twice-yearly full inventory count and ensure that inventory accuracy % is maintained between 99.75% - 100.25%. Ensure the efficient, safe and food safe storage of pallets in the warehouse and regularly audit the storage locations for most effective way of storing.
6.
Continuous Improvement:
Understand, implement, and review warehousing procedures to the agreed safety, food safety and work standards. Ensure KPIs are monitored and presented to allow identification of improvement plans. Leading and owning the evaluation of metrics and KPIs and ensuring robust action plans exits to improve the KPIs month over month. Lead a daily performance review process with the warehouse team and participate in the main Daily Performance Review (DPR) for the site. Ensure that all warehouse KPIs are well understood and presented at the DPR for discussion and objective action plans.
7.
Systems:
The role ensures that the warehouse master data is regularly reviewed and updated where necessary. Participate in the commercialization process and ensure new data for new products/customers is entered appropriately into the system. Ensure all warehouse module work flows in the ERP system have SOPs and are regularly reviewed.
8.
Training & Development:
Participate in all trainings related to the job in order to gain knowledge/skills/abilities needed for exceptional performance. Together with Site General Manager, prepare personal development plan in order to identify areas for improvement.

Requirements
IV - Job Requirements (Required and Preferred):
Education:
B.A. degree in Supply Chain, Production Operations Management, or related curriculum and/or experience required.
Related Experience
At least 6 years of directly related experience required in a Warehousing/Logistics, Distribution Depot
Management and leadership of a team >10 people (preferred)
Experience with an ERP and WMS system (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards, etc.).
Food manufacturing (preferred)

Work Environment:
This job operates in both office and manufacturing warehouse environment. Warehouse conditions - exposure to noise, heat, cold, slippery, wet, heights, etc. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment in the warehouse and manufacturing environment (hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, beard/hair nets, safety shoes). The site handles Soy and Gluten on a regular basis.
Physical and Sensory Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms overhead and grip; climb stairs; talk or hear.
