TITLE: WIOA Supportive Services Career Advisor

REPORTS TO: Area Manager

LOCATION: WSET Office Location to be Determined

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Hourly Employee 

Job Summary: A Career Team Supportive Services Career Advisor is responsible for accurately identifying, communicating, requesting, providing, and documenting Supportive Services for customers who are participating in eligible Workforce Solutions East Texas activities.

Your Impact on Career Team’s Success:

  • Communicates program specific requirements regarding contacts, employment and training requirements, and supportive services.
  • Develops and maintains a professional relationship with customers by meeting with them via a frequency and format that complies with programmatic regulations while meeting the needs of the customer. 
  • Provides professional customer service and communicates efficiently with customers, peers, and management (verbally and in writing, as appropriate). 
  • Track customers’ progress toward individual employment and training goals. 
  • Determines the need and qualification for programmatic supportive services to include transportation assistance, purchase orders, child-care assistance, work-related assistance, and/or incentives.
  • Completes all documents appropriately and consistently to ensure program funds are allocated appropriately.
  • Performs accurate and timely data entry into required database system(s) 
  • Remains current and compliant with Board issued procedures, policies, policies and guidelines regarding Supportive Service requests and payments.
  • Remains compliant with all training offered to ensure up-to-date knowledge of processes and procedures.
  • Complies with self-audit guidelines and other processes to assure case quality.
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with private/sensitive issues and information.
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.

To Qualify for This Role, You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent relevant work experience or a combination of education and work experience. 
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel and Word, Microsoft TEAMs, Zoom or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work efficiently virtually using phone, text, and video conference with customers, peers and management.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. 
  • Must be detailed oriented with an ability to work independently. 

Required Competencies: Professional Customer Service focus, learning orientation, communication proficiency, teamwork orientation, technical capacity.

Additional Skills/Knowledge Career TEAM Would Love for This Role: 

  • Successful Job experience in Finance, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and/or Bookkeeping.

Wage: $18/hr

Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other locations within the East Texas service area.
