General Summary:
Takes a leadership role in implementing the company quality control program and assures area conformance to the applicable quality requirements. Administers quality control related processes for special processes, inspection and test, material test and equipment (M&TE) program, and their associated documentation, initiates or supports process and procedure development. Leads and participates in audits and surveillances to ensure compliance and effective implementation of quality control processes. Coordinates with various levels of the organization in support of quality improvement. Interfaces with customers, third party quality vendors as primary point of contact for quality. Authorized to review and override the decisions of quality control with power to make recommendations for waivers of applicable specifications.
Quality Control
Develops inspection and test plans for the fabrication shop and onsite installation/construction activities and ensures that quality control representatives are executing inspection and test plan (ITP) as required. Oversees management of the area measuring and test equipment program (M&TE) to include maintaining M&TE inventory, issuing M&TE to the quality control representative(s)/field, sending M&TE out for calibration, performing verification of post-use M&TE, etc. Manages the development and submittal of all quality control-related project submittals. Oversee the non-destructive examination (NDE) activities in-house or third party and monitor inspection and test activities as needed. Oversees effective implementation of the nonconformance reporting process, reviews trends in nonconformance reporting and other quality-related data such as inspections, testing, welding procedures, NDE and MT&E. Performs quality control inspections as needed.
Audits and Assessments
Plans and executes audits and assessments of subcontractors and suppliers when needed. Lead or participate in quality audits and surveillances of project-related quality affecting activities.
Quality Training
Develops and provides training on quality control systems as needed.
Quality Assurance
Interfaces regularly with the Quality Manager to ensure quality program objectives are being met. Review non-conformances and corrective actions, assist with development of audit/surveillance schedule, review audit and surveillance results, and monitor corrective action progress.
Education and Experience:
Minimum 5 years combined experience in Quality Control and mechanical construction required; ten (10) years' experience is preferred.
Ability to certify, at a minimum, as a level II ASNT-TC-1A inspector
Detailed knowledge of quality improvements and how the theories of quality are translated into action.
Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) preferred.

Ability to read, understand, interpret codes and standards
Ability to read, understand, interpret specifications and drawings
Physical Requirements:
Frequent use of computer monitor, keyboard and mouse. Frequently sits. Regularly stands. Regularly walks.
Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces. Occasionally ascends and descends stairs. Occasionally kneels, stoops, crouches and/or crawls. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Occasionally drives to meeting locations or project sites.
