About the role

As our Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) you will be pivotal in delivering comprehensive patient care, including assessments, vital sign monitoring, and medication administration. The LPN plays a crucial role in assisting the provider(s) during various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, contributing to the overall efficiency of the practice. Patient education on cardiovascular health, medication management, and post-procedure care is a vital responsibility, emphasizing the LPN's role in promoting patient well-being.

Additionally, maintaining accurate documentation, collaborating with other healthcare team members, and actively participating in quality assurance initiatives are key aspects of ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care at Corrielus Cardiology.

Job Duties:

  • Answers patients’ inquiries and determines how to assist them.
  • Measures and records patients’ vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Works as part of a health care team to assess patient needs, plan and modify care, and implement interventions.
  • Assist cardiologist with various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as stress tests, and echocardiograms.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by the cardiologist.
  • Educate patients on medication management and potential side effects.
  • Provide patient education on cardiovascular health, lifestyle modifications, and disease management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure the proper functioning and cleanliness of medical equipment used in the practice.
  • Participate in training for emergency protocols and procedures as required.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Attend relevant workshops, seminars, or training sessions as needed.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Patient Care Quality:

  • Assess the quality of patient care provided by medical assistants through feedback and reviews.

Patient Wait Time:

  • Minimize patient wait times by optimizing the scheduling and workflow processes.

Clinical Documentation Accuracy:

  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient information in electronic health records.
  • Minimize errors in recording vital signs, medical history, and other relevant patient data.

Collaboration with Providers:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of collaboration between medical assistants and cardiologists.
  • Measure communication and coordination in patient care.

Medical Equipment Maintenance:

  • Monitor the maintenance and proper functioning of medical equipment in examination rooms.
  • Ensure that medical assistants follow protocols for equipment sterilization.

Patient Education Effectiveness:

  • Assess the success of medical assistants in providing clear and understandable patient education materials.
  • Measure patient understanding and compliance with treatment plans.

Team Collaboration:

  • Evaluate the level of teamwork and collaboration among medical assistants and other healthcare professionals.
  • Address any communication or workflow issues that may arise.

Adherence to Infection Control Practices:

  • Monitor compliance with infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Implement measures to enhance infection prevention.

Patient Follow-Up:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of medical assistants in following up with patients regarding treatment plans and appointments.
  • Measure patient compliance with recommended follow-up care.
