Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has an opening for a qualified Science teacher for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This teacher will be expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program for high school Theology. The High School Science teacher performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Functions and Responsibilities include:
- Creates hands-on, inquiry-based, project-based lessons that build excitement for science.
- Demonstrates scientific concepts using models, technology, and other standards or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
- Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, lab experiments, and assignments in a timely manner.
- Develops and implements a curriculum and lessons that will foster knowledge and skills essential to effectively teach students in the grades assigned.
- Promotes high standards and expectations for student learning.
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Education, or related field. Master’s Degree in Science, Education, or related field (encouraged). Doctoral Degree in Science, Education, or related field (encouraged)
- Three (3) years or more of experience.
- Florida Department of Education English teaching 6-12 certificate, temporary or professional required.
- Knowledge and skill in use of instructional technology, including iPads, in the classroom.
- Must be supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. Experience in a Roman Catholic environment preferred.
- Excellent presentation skills with skill in use of instructional technologies.
- Excellent oral and written English -language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Must have excellent classroom management skills and have demonstrated ability to engage students.
- Good spelling and grammar required.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom Notability a plus.
- Must have a professional demeanor.
