GENERAL DESCRIPTION -Supervision of nuclear medicine stress testing, stress echo testing, exercise treadmill testing and chart review.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESCommunicate and collaborate with physicians, leadership, nuclear technologists, echocardiographers and others.
Review and triage of abnormal test results and refer to physicians/ARNPs for orders.
Timely documentation of patient/nurse interactions in the electronic health record.
Function as patient advocate.
Facilitate and maintain good public relations.
Refer patients to physicians or other health care providers and programs as appropriate.
Function as liaison between physicians, office, family, community, community providers and hospital staff.
Communicate with peers regarding new medications, office procedures, etc.
Collaborate in policy and procedure development.
Utilize the Nursing Process to identify and resolve problems within the scope of practice.
Perform nursing duties as designated through policies, guidelines, procedures, protocols, orders, and patient plan of care including managing and coordinating the activities required for the delivery of safe patient care during cardiac imaging procedures.
Must be familiar with cardiac stress testing protocols and EKGrhythms.
Monitors nuclear and dobutamine stress echoes, exercise stress tests and bubble studies as needed.
Establish IV access and administer IV medications as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance. Proficiency in medication dosage calculations. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work independently and take initiative Ability to accept responsibility willingly. Ability to set priorities and use good judgment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
bachelor's degree (BSN) from four-year college or university or an associate degree (ADN) in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing with three related experience and/or training in cardiac or critical care required. Experience with EKG and interpreting rhythyms required.
Registered Nurse in the State of Washington. Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR Current ACLS certification
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time utilizing eyes, hands and fingers to handle, feel and type; and reach with hands and arms to type use mouse, keyboard, and monitor. Hearing must be adequate to converse in person, on the telephone, to hear emergency alarms on equipment and in the facility, to hear the overhead paging system, and be able to evaluate patients. This position requires prolonged periods of standing, sitting and reaching, often reaching and holding an awkward position. Requires a significant amount of time spent on feet and operating machines to perform specific procedures. Will be required to lift and pull patients that require assistance when performing a diagnostic procedure or responding to an emergency. Requires frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 50 lbs or more. May be required to float to other locations.
