The Details
General Summary:
  • LVN administers personal hygienic and therapeutic measures for patients as directed. Makes a skilled nursing assessment each visit as ordered.
  • LVN observes, records, and reports to RN supervisor on the general physical and mental conditions of the patient.
  • LVN administers prescribed medications and treatments as permitted by State and by local regulations.
  • LVN assists the physician and/or registered professional nurse in performing specialized procedures.
  • LVN assists the patient with activities of daily living and encourages appropriate self-care.
  • LVN cooperates with all staff members in carrying out overall objectives of the agency.
  • LVN must uphold and respect the rights of the patient.
  • LVN must use tact and judgment in dealing with patients.
  • LVN may administer enemas, douches, perennial care and other treatments.
  • LVN delivers skilled nursing care in strict conformance with the physician plan of care under the direction of an RN.
  • Position can be called upon to perform other duties as assigned.
Job Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory, technique, and practice plus ability to effectively supervise personnel. 
  • Practice in regulation of the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. 
  • Ability to learn, manage, and ensure compliance of health programs. Strong written and oral communication skills required. 
  • Requires a valid Texas driver’s license.
Qualifications:
A person who has completed a practical (vocational) nursing program, is licensed in the state where practicing, and who furnishes services under the supervision of a qualified registered nurse.
