About the role:

This role will report to the Purchasing Manager. The right candidate will have good communication skills to be able to work with two departments and maintain databases. This role will require initiative to complete projects and provide updates to their manager.

  Coordinate and monitor all aspects of supply chain operations to ensure the delivery of best-in-class service to customers.
• Expand and maintain a database of qualified carriers that meet company standards, ensuring reliability and efficiency in transportation.
• Collaborate with the purchasing department to coordinate and schedule supplier pick-ups, optimizing efficiency in the procurement process.
• Arrange backhauls of merchandise to maximize transportation capacity and minimize empty return trips.
• Solicit quotes from carriers and tender loads to the most qualified providers, considering factors such as cost, reliability, and delivery timelines.
• Assist operations team in scheduling appointments for inbound and outbound freight, facilitating smooth logistics operations.
• Plan and track the movement of loads, both inbound and , ensuring timely delivery and adherence to customer requirements.
• Conduct negotiations with carriers to establish favorable contracts, optimizing terms and rates for transportation services.
• Manage all billing issues and discrepancies with freight companies, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments.
• Interface with suppliers to address issues related to damaged, expired, or mis-picked goods at the time of delivery, resolving issues promptly.
• Communicate effectively with carriers regarding damages and coordinate the process of obtaining credits for any discrepancies.
• Develop designated transportation lanes through strategic negotiations with brokers and carriers, optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of the logistics operations.
