Capital Paving & Construction is Hiring a Safety Manager-Bridge, Earthworks, Asphalt Near Colorado, CO

Capital Paving and Construction is looking for a Safety Manager in the Rocky Mountain Region to implement, manage, and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and MSHA requirements.

This individual must be an experienced safety specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the environmental services industry; along with being skilled in MSHA and OSHA, Hazard Analysis, CPR Instruction, Safety Training, Incident Investigation, and Lock Out Tag Out.

This position will involve frequent travel to job sites, including out of state travel and overnight stays.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist with executing our safety strategy and zero accident culture for the assigned business unit.
  • Ensure job site safety including training, documentation, audits, and reporting.
  • Monitor daily construction activities for compliance with OSHA and company policies/procedures.
  • Ensure MSHA regulatory compliance at all levels of plant operation.
  • Assist in safety efforts by researching, planning, developing, and implementing programs and procedures necessary to meet compliance and safety needs, both OSHA & MSHA to include safety new hire orientation, MSHA new miner training, MSHA annual refresher training, site specific contractor training, and HAZWOPER.
  • Implement an effective safety program for each project within the territory assigned.
  • Lead safety training for individuals and crews as needed.
  • Maintain a regular site visit to all projects within the territory assigned.
  • Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Communicate to all parties in real time to ensure all safety matters are dealt with timely and accurately.
  • Maintain proper safety records and documentation and communicate to all levels of the organization as necessary.
  • Responsible for filing MSHA and OSHA reports.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree focused on Occupational Safety Health and Fire Science
  • At least 5 years of experience in civil construction or asphalt, preferred.
  • Previous experience with OSHA rules and regulations
  • Knowledge and experience with mining operations.
  • 5 years’ experience with MSHA Part 46 regulatory oversight for training, reporting, and safety and health standards.
  • Environmental compliance experience
  • OSHA 30, preferred.
  • Formal safety training including First Aid, CPR, and CSM (Certified Safety Manager), preferred but not required.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels in a construction environment.
  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Clean and valid driver’s license
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
