We are seeking DevOps Engineers who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies to join our team. As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as Network Resiliency team software engineer designing and implementing sustainable testing practices to ensure resiliency of the Capital One network environment(s).

  • Consult on the creation and/or maintenance of testing results artifacts, standards documentation and operational runbook templates, topology diagrams and workflow documents. 

  • Participate in technology integration efforts with engineering and other support teams to ensure infrastructure is resilient and meets the high standard of operational excellence for Capital One.

  • Provide visibility to key performance indicators to help manage various platform environment(s) to ensure they are resilient and operating at optimal levels.

  • Automate analysis and reporting on network configuration in support of internally driven resilience audits and security testing.

  • Provide resilience related audit and ad hoc consulting engagements support. 

  • Consult on problem resolution analysis for resilience related incidents.

  • Develop automation to ensure compliance with enterprise configuration standards . 

  • Serve as a technical resource and provide training for various team(s) on testing automation and workflow generation through one-on-one or group technical discussions. 

  • This position may require some planned and ad hoc travel (very little)

  • This position supports resiliency testing which requires periodic off-hours work.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 6 years of experience in DevOps Engineering (Internship experience does not apply)

  • At least 3 years of experience in Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

  • At least 4 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years working with routing concepts and solutions including protocols such as EBGP/IBGP, ISIS, OSPF, and EIGRP.

  • 4 years of Scripting, PostGres and/or Automation. 

  • 4 years working knowledge of Network Management Tools. 

  • 2 years experience with any of the following: Proxies, Firewalls (PaloAlto/CheckPoint), DNS, and F5 LTM/GTMs

  • 2 years working knowledge of network platforms including wireless and SD-WAN solutions.

  • 2 years with Agile / DevOps delivery model and common application traffic flow patterns in multi-tiered applications. 

  • A solid understanding of what comprises a scalable, robust and supportable design.

  • A bias toward action, along with an internal drive for continuous improvement.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail. 

  • A solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles

  • Experience with managing chaos testing on network infrastructure or in cloud environments. 

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a geographically dispersed yet integrated team. 

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

  • Significantly demonstrable experience supporting large-scale enterprise networks. 

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills to:

    • Discuss complex technical issues with technicians, engineers, and vendors. 

    • Articulate technical information in a business-like manner to non-technical personnel. 

    • Lead and facilitate communications with other departments and external third parties. 

    • Inform and influence management leaders and peers.
