Capital Day School is Hiring a Teacher, Fourth Grade Near Frankfort, KY

Position Overview: As a fourth grade teacher at Capital Day school, you are encouraged to play a pivotal role in the learning and exploration of the learners ongoing intellectual, emotional and social development. An emphasis is placed on learners being active participants in the individualized instruction that is offered with such small class sizes. You will have the opportunity to create a supportive and engaging environment for upper elementary learners to thrive.

Through a combination of grade-appropriate textbooks, added texts and workbooks, interactive activities, games, and hands-on projects, students study the English language, social studies, math, and science with differentiated learning. The activities, reading, and projects are geared to fulfill the standards for private schools in each subject. You will maintain a focus on application and connection through independent and collaborative work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan lessons, activities, and assessments to address the varying abilities and interests of all students.
  • Assist with the continuous building of writing and vocabulary skills, using appropriate grammar in all work, and number sense skills of all kinds.
  • Help learners expand on their executive functioning skills, social emotional learning, and become more independent learners.
  • Encourage learners to use what they know in their own projects, form questions, investigate their hypotheses, and develop an analysis of social implications of what is learned.
  • Collaborate with colleagues often.
  • Provide differentiation of instruction to meet the diverse needs of each student, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Use technology, as appropriate.
  • Utilize ongoing assessments to successfully teach combined levels.
  • Commitment to meet the individual needs of students in the classroom.
  • Maintain records for each student, record grades, plan appropriate field trips, coordinate schedules with enrichment teachers, locate needed resources,
  • Ongoing communication with learners’ families.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; teaching certification preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, observation, and collaboration skills.
  • Patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about working with learners.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a growth mindset.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

Salary range: $30,000 - 35,000
