Capital Area Pediatrics is Hiring a Patient Care Assistant Near Vienna, VA

Capital Area Pediatrics offers accessible, comprehensive pediatric care to families at five practice locations throughout Northern Virginia. For both sickness and health, generations of families have chosen Capital Area Pediatrics to provide outstanding care and an exceptional patient experience.

We are currently hiring Patient Care Assistants for multiple shifts and locations. This is an entry level position, ideal for candidates interested in developing foundational healthcare skills.

For those interested in a Medical Assistant position: We require our Medical Assistants to be certified. If you are certified, please see our job board for a full list of available positions. For those interested in obtaining a Medical Assistant credential, the Patient Care Assistant position provides you with the clinical experience to prepare for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Exam.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort patients to the exam room, gather patient history, measure vitals, and document all information in the patient’s medical chart.
  • Process patients during check-in and check-out. If necessary, collect insurance and registration information, as well as appointment scheduling.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
  • Maintains patient files, records, and other information in a confidential manner.
  • Communicates effectively and courteously with and demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients and family.
  • Follows universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Performs other assigned duties as directed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced patient care environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Enrollment in a healthcare degree program preferred.
  • Gap Year students preparing for Medical, PA, or NP school are encouraged to apply.
  • Clinical experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced patient care environment.
