1. Plans and oversees all operations of the Laboratory Department by managing the clinical laboratory Supervisors and their staff, providing assistance and direction regarding day-to-day operations
2. Establishes department objectives, follows through to assure attainment, and evaluates performance in relation to objectives.
3. Ensures adequate staffing levels and support necessary for operation of the department.
4. Conceives, initiates and implements department operating policies and standard operating procedures in accordance with the standards of CAP, TJC, DPH and other regulatory agencies.
5. Develops department's annual operating and capital equipment budgets and assures department operates within allocated funds.
6. Oversees the selection of capital equipment to ensure suitability with the needs and goals of the organization.
7. Maintains departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
8. Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control programs.
9. Develops standards of performance and performance evaluations.
10. Initiates and maintains working relationships between Laboratory, medical staff and other departments of the hospital.
11. Participates on hospital committees and attends meetings as required. Provides input at Laboratory Executive Team meetings. Maintains good communication with all other members of the management team throughout C-LAB that will enhance services.
12. Maintains confidentiality of information deemed confidential.
13. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
14. Fosters a work ethic that places a premium value on customer service at all times.
15. Performs other work related duties and activities as assigned or requested.
