Canyon ISD is Hiring an Irrigation Specialist Near Canyon, TX

Primary Purpose:
Perform the skilled work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the district irrigation
system to ensure the grounds are safe, neat and attractive.


Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Landscape Irrigator License


Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to read architectural and engineered drawings, specifications and diagrams
  • Ability to measure and perform mathematical computations
  • Ability to design, install and maintain complete lawn/landscape irrigation system
  • Basic knowledge of general ground maintenance and repair procedure
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools specialized for grounds maintenance (mowers, weed eaters, concrete mixers, etc.)
  • Ability to follow oral and written instruction
  • Ability to work independently


Major Responsibilities and Duties - Grounds/Landscaping and Irrigation:

  • Maintain and repair district irrigation system
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and perform work in the repair, alteration, construction, installation, replacement and preventive maintenance of irrigation supply lines, controllers, timing devices, sprinklers heads, fixtures and other related equipment.
  • Water grounds and develop cost-effective irrigation scheduling
  • Assist when needed with all work associated with maintenance of grounds (mowing, weed control, caring for trees, shrubs, flower beds and xeriscape areas)
  • Assist with repair of fences as needed and directed
  • Complete equipment repairs on work orders in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required
  • Participate in district and department meetings/trainings as required
  • Prompt arrival at workstation at the beginning of each working day
  • Represent the school systems to the community in a positive and professional way
  • Perform other duties as assigned
