What you’ll do

Canvas Credit Union is currently seeking a software development intern to join our small, highly collaborative, and friendly team in our Lone Tree, CO Office. The software development intern will perform assignments designed to develop knowledge and experience associated with all phases of the software development life cycle. This will include work as a software developer, quality analyst, business analyst, data analyst and scrum master. Our ideal candidate is humble, empathetic, accountable, resourceful, and persistent. The internship will run from June 3rd, 2024, to July 26, 2024.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist with a wide range of software development life cycle assignments.

• Develop software with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. If qualified, assisting with C# development.
• Eliciting and documenting requirements from internal stakeholders.
• Testing software and writing test cases.
• Facilitating scrum ceremonies such as stand-up meetings and assisting scrum masters.
• Work with our business intelligence team to develop data visualization and database queries.
• Design, develop, test, and continuously improve web sites, web applications, and APIs.
• Work closely with product owners, software architects, UI/UX designers, QA testers, and other developers to iron out requirements and implement them.
• Engage with team on a regular basis to conceptualize projects.
• Research industry specific trends and projects.
• Maintain department files and databases.
• Exhibit support for the organization’s goals, values, initiatives, and cost control.
• Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests and requirements.
• Follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard member and organization assets.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

• Must be currently pursuing a 4-year bachelor’s degree in computer information systems.
  • Students with some programming experience who have completed their sophomore or junior year are preferred.
• Experience with C# or java, JavaScript, HTML, and SQL is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational, time and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and execute multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to maintain confidences.

Education or Formal Training: Must be currently pursuing a 4-year bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. Students with some programming experience who have completed their sophomore or junior year are preferred.

The starting pay for this position is $18.29/hour.

Working Environment/Physical Activities

High volume, fast-paced, dynamic office environment. Must be able to attend meetings and events outside of regular business hours. The job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets. The position requires bending, stooping, or standing as necessary.
