Job Description
The clinical psychologist role is responsible for providing psychologist treatment options and assessment tools to help those with mental health disorders. Canopy serves a diverse population of clientele using a client-centered and culturally responsive approach. Services are provided in an outpatient setting, both in-person and telehealth (in state applicants only).
Office Locations: 6625 Lyndale Ave. Richfield, MN and 615 1st Ave. NE, Minneapolis, MN.
This role is full-time, exempt, salaried. The position is eligible for health and dental insurance, as well the option to participate in a 401(k) with matching. The role has 80 hours of Paid Time Off and 56 hours of Sick Leave, which are both accrued after hire. This position also observes 10 paid holidays. Full-time clinicians also receive a training stipend, allotted training time off, and covers the cost for insurance credentialing once fully licensed. Canopy will also provide staff with a laptop, phone, and any other necessary technology, and office supplies as needed. Canopy will also supply any necessary testing supplies and assessments needed.
This position is supervised by Canopy’s Clinical Manager and receives support from Canopy’s Administrative Team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial diagnostic and psychological assessments/testing/evaluations and confers diagnosis as appropriate
  • Ability to conduct psychological assessments for all ages, children, adolescents and adults
  • Facilitates specialty evaluations to support accurate diagnostic and treatment protocols
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests, and write comprehensive reports of test results and provide feedback and recommendations
  • Provide culturally appropriate evidence based psychological interventions in individual, group and family modalities for psychological disorders, including co-occurring substance abuse disorders
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide care or services appropriate to the clients age, developmental level, cultural background, and specific needs of clients being served
  • Provides consultation support and information to team of clinicians on behavioral/psychological management of clients
  • Completes all psychological testing reports/documentation and billing in timely manner
  • Maintains accurate, complete and timely documentation in electronic health records system
  • Works collaboratively with team of psychotherapist, psychiatric prescribers, and admin to ensure quality care
  • Assist in maintaining standards for clinic by the American Psychological Association (APA), HIPAA, and state licensure
  • Collaborating with other Canopy providers to assist clients with referrals for psychotherapy or medication management; or additional external referrals to care and treatment
Required Qualifications:
  • Must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D) from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program with appropriate clinical training
  • Flexible, culturally responsive and effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Successful completion of Postdoctoral training hours
  • Must be fully licensed in the state of Minnesota. Any out-of-state applicants must be licensed or willing to become licensed in Minnesota
  • Must be passionate and knowledgeable about providing culturally responsive services
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to work independently and developed critical thinking skills
  • Is efficient, highly motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Fantastic organization and time management skills
  • Basic knowledge of insurance billing process (CPT Codes, Diagnostic ICD Codes, use of Modifiers)
  • Enjoys working in collaborative work environment
Evaluation Criteria

  • Cultural Responsiveness: Assesses and addresses gaps in program cultural responsiveness; stays apprised of recent research; terminology and societal circumstances as necessary to serve marginalized populations.
  • Personnel Retention and Satisfaction: Generally positive and supportive relationships with Canopy staff and clinicians; staff and clinicians report moderate or higher satisfaction with the Clinical Manager’s leadership; 3 or fewer clinicians quit or fired per year.
  • Clinical Oversight: Independently notices and takes action on problems related to clinical oversight; displays understanding and knowledge of requirements of insurance company contracts and provider manuals; complies and ensures program compliance with ethical and legal standards for clinical practice.
  • Recruiting Outcomes: Maintains positive collaborative relationship with HR staff; creates realistic recruiting goals in collaboration with HR and owners; meets or exceeds recruiting goals.
  • Customer Service Outcomes: Develops process for monitoring customer service outcomes; addresses expressed concerns of clients and the public within 2 business days.
Salary Range: $100,000-$125,000
