Responsibilities of the Payroll and Benefits Specialist:

  • The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will support the bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. This includes managing tasks such as approving and submitting hourly timesheets, processing payroll changes (e.g., raises, bonuses, new hires, terminations), and providing training to managers on timekeeping procedures.
  • The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations related to payroll, including FLSA, wage, and tax regulations. Assist with wage garnishments, tax filings, and new state registrations as needed.
  • The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will administer leave of absence programs and policies in accordance with FMLA, ADA, and other relevant laws. Manage short- and long-term disability claims and ensure compliance with ERISA, Cafeteria Section 125, COBRA, and ACA regulations.
  • The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will handle employee benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) plans. Liaise with insurance brokers when necessary and manage new employee setup in ADP and benefits platforms.
  • The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will address employees' payroll and benefits-related inquiries and provide support for pre-hire screening and new hire orientation. Assist the HSE team with administrative tasks in the SafetyPlus Web system and support New Hire Orientation responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications of the Payroll and Benefits Specialist:

  • 1 years of experience processing payroll and benefits
  • Experience using ADP is highly preferred
