ELECTRICAL OR CONTROLS INTERN JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of a Project Manager or Project Engineer, the Intern(s) we seek will start their professional career true to the Cal Poly motto “learn by doing” by performing engineering calculations and programming support, in the office and in the field, on a variety of automation and electrical engineering projects.

ELECTRICAL OR CONTROLS INTERN JOB DUTIES

  • Design, procure, fabricate, and test a Factory Acceptance Test workbench for use on PLC/HMI projects.
  • Help program the frontend and backend of a database to be used with our engineering projects.
  • Help organize and standardize our PLC code for various processes and tasks.
  • Assist Project Managers and Engineers during start-up and commissioning of automation and electrical engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Working on an Engineering or Computer Science Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (prefer working on a degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (esp. Mechtronics), or Agricultural Engineering.
  • Programming experience is required (be prepared to show examples).
  • Tinkering with electronics experience is required (be prepared to show examples).
  • 3rd year or higher student.

WE OFFER 16 - 40 hours per week (depending upon available work), Monday thru Friday with a flexible schedule, competitive salaries, an excellent benefits package (for full-time employees), and an active and positive team building, work environment.
