Overview:
As a Landscape Designer, you will be responsible for creating innovative and functional outdoor spaces that meet the needs and preferences of clients while enhancing the natural environment. You will collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to conceptualize, design, and implement landscape projects that harmonize with surrounding ecosystems and promote sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with clients to assess their needs, preferences, and budgetary considerations for landscape projects.
  • Conduct site evaluations to analyze existing features, topography, soil conditions, climate factors, and environmental considerations.
  • Develop conceptual designs, sketches, and renderings that illustrate proposed landscape plans, including hardscapes, plantings, water features, and outdoor amenities.
  • Incorporate principles of design, such as balance, proportion, scale, rhythm, and unity, to create aesthetically pleasing and functional outdoor spaces.
  • Select appropriate plant species, trees, shrubs, and groundcovers based on site conditions, climate zones, and maintenance requirements.
  • Design irrigation systems, drainage solutions, and sustainable landscaping practices to conserve water, minimize runoff, and promote soil health.
  • Specify materials, finishes, and construction methods that align with project goals, budget constraints, and environmental sustainability standards.
  • Prepare detailed construction drawings, plans, and specifications for bidding, permitting, and implementation purposes.
  • Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and landscape contractors to coordinate project logistics, timelines, and budgetary considerations.
  • Monitor project progress, review contractor submissions, and provide on-site supervision and guidance during construction and installation phases.
  • Conduct post-installation evaluations and inspections to ensure compliance with design intent, quality standards, and client satisfaction.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in landscape architecture, horticulture, and environmental stewardship.
  • Attend client meetings, presentations, and public hearings to communicate design concepts, address concerns, and solicit feedback.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software, GIS tools, and 3D modeling programs to create accurate and visually compelling design presentations.
  • Promote sustainable design principles, native plantings, and habitat restoration initiatives to support biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in landscape architecture, environmental design, horticulture, or related field.
  • Professional licensure or eligibility for licensure as a landscape architect (if required by state regulations).
  • Proven experience in landscape design, with a portfolio showcasing diverse projects, design styles, and scales.
  • Proficiency in landscape design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar programs.
  • Strong knowledge of plant materials, soil science, site engineering, and construction techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities, with a passion for innovation, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $34,560.00 per year
