Kitchen Assistant 

STAFF ROLE DESCRIPTION

Title: Kitchen Assistant Reports to: Culinary Director and AM Lead/PM LeadStatus: Summer 2024-Seasonal Full-Time

Compensation: $20 hourly 

Prior to applying to Camp Korey individuals must be ready to commit to:

1. Frequent health screenings and must commit to follow all Camp Korey safety protocols
2. Closely adhering to all of Camp Korey’s COVID safety protocol and policies
3. Working the entire summer season including staff training and post camp clean. Dates 6/3/2024-8/21/2024
4. There is some work available starting in April (mostly weekends).

Position Summary: 

Kitchen Assistants are responsible for all dishwashing, set up and breakdown of service lines at meals, assisting the Culinary Director and Assistant Chef in the preparation and service of semi-homemade healthy camper friendly meals for 50-150 people, maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen areas and equipment, and maintaining positive inclusive relationships with Camp Korey campers, staff, and volunteers. 

REQUIREMENTS- General

• 16 years old 
• Maintain camper and colleague confidentiality at all times
• Must pass a thorough criminal background check 
• Must have current vaccines including COVID 19 and Hepatitis A Vaccine

• Must possess current WA State Food Worker’s Card
• Must be able to work all scheduled shifts
• Must be able to independently perform the duties of a Kitchen Assistant

REQUIREMENTS- Specific

• Willingness to learn new skills through fast paced on the job training

RESPONSIBILITIES- Specific

• Assist in set up and service of meals 
• Assist in completion of daily prep work
• Assist maintaining stock of grab and go snacks and salad bar items
• Maintain cleanliness of dish pit including industrial dishwasher and 3 compartment sinks
• Assist in maintenance of inventory including rotating stock and putting away weekly delivery
• Daily closure of the Camp Korey kitchen including sanitation of all surfaces, sweeping, mopping, garbage and recycling, and laundry
• Other duties as assigned

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, talk and hear, and is frequently required to stand for long hours, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, twist and bend; lift, carry, move, push and pull up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Keen sense of smell and taste are essential. The employee must have the ability and stamina to walk long distances, over uneven terrain, and in various weather conditions.
