To ensure the seamless functioning of camp operations by overseeing facilities, food service, and housekeeping management, fostering a safe and comfortable environment for participants and staff, and upholding high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency throughout the summer camp season and school-year programming.

Education, Experience, Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
  • A bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, facilities management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in facilities management, food service, housekeeping, or related roles, preferably in a camp or similar environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Previous experience in staff management and budget and resource management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, sanitation practices, and facility maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and problem-solve effectively.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).

Requirements:
  • Education and Training:
  • Previous experience in facilities management, food service, housekeeping, or related roles, preferably in a camp or similar environment
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in facilities management, food service, housekeeping, or related roles, preferably in a camp or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing and coordinating facilities, food service, or housekeeping operations in a camp setting.
  • Proven track record of leadership, team management, and problem-solving in a dynamic and challenging environment, ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
  • Technical Competencies:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant scheduling, inventory management, and budget tracking software.
  • Familiarity with food service operations, menu planning, and dietary guidelines.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of facility maintenance, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural integrity.
  • Proficiency in landscaping and groundskeeping tasks such as lawn mowing and weed eating.
  • Communication and Teamwork:
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and departments within the camp setting.
  • Customer service orientation focuses on meeting the needs and expectations of campers, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility:
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stamina and physical fitness to perform tasks related to facilities management, food service oversight, and housekeeping supervision through the year.
  • Background Check:
  • Candidates must be able to pass a background check, mainly due to the population with which the position works.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Specific Area – Facilities Management
  • Maintenance Oversight: Supervise and coordinate maintenance staff in performing routine inspections, repairs, and upkeep of camp buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe and functional environment.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of supplies, tools, and equipment necessary for facilities maintenance, and coordinate procurement as needed to support camp operations.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards for facilities, conduct regular safety audits, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and hazards.
Specific Area – Food Service Management
  • Menu Planning: Collaborate with food service staff to plan nutritious and diverse menus for camp meals, taking into account dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Quality Control: Supervise food preparation, service, and cleanup processes to maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Budget Management: Monitor food costs, portion control, and waste management strategies to optimize food service operations within budgetary constraints.

Specific Area – Housekeeping and Sanitation
  • Cleaning Protocols: Develop and enforce cleaning schedules, protocols, and standards for housekeeping staff to ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all camp facilities, including cabins, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Sanitation Compliance: Monitor and maintain adherence to sanitation practices, including proper waste disposal, cleaning procedures, and use of cleaning products, to prevent the spread of illness and maintain a healthy environment.
  • Staff Training: Train and educate housekeeping staff on cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and best practices for maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the campsite.

General Responsibilities:
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Manage and oversee all aspects of non-program related operations at the camp, including facilities management, food service, and housekeeping.
    • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure efficient and effective functioning of operational areas.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff in facilities, food service, and housekeeping roles, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings, provide guidance, support, and feedback to team members.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Assist in budget planning, monitoring, and management for facilities, food service, and housekeeping departments, ensuring cost-effective practices and resource allocation.
    • Coordinate procurement of supplies, equipment, and services necessary for operations, adhering to budgetary guidelines.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards for facilities, food service, and housekeeping operations.
    • Develop and implement safety protocols, emergency procedures, and risk management strategies, conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.
  • Customer Service and Stakeholder Relations:
    • Collaborate with camp leadership, staff, campers, parents/guardians, and external stakeholders to meet and exceed expectations for quality, safety, and satisfaction.
    • Address and resolve concerns, feedback, and inquiries related to facilities, food service, and housekeeping promptly and professionally.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and operational efficiencies within facilities, food service, and housekeeping departments.
    • Implement initiatives, strategies, and best practices to enhance overall camp operations and the camper/staff experience.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Maintain open and effective communication channels with all relevant stakeholders, including regular updates, reports, and feedback mechanisms.
    • Collaborate with other camp directors, departments, and external vendors/contractors as needed to support camp operations and initiatives
