JOB TITLE: Staff Accountant

SHIFT: 80 Hours Bi-Weekly, 1st Shift

JOB SUMMARY

Staff Accountant is the organized safekeeper of financial records, data, and reports. Has responsibility for the daily accounting procedures necessary to the financial operations of Cameron Memorial Community Hospital (CMCH) and Cameron Medical Outreach (CMO).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance field

EXPERIENCE

• At least 2 years accounting experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

• Generate accounting journal entries, monitor account balances, account coding, and trial balance to always ensure the general ledger accurately reflects CMCH and CMO’s financial situation and that unusual items are being reported.
• Ensure all bank accounts for CMCH and CMO are reconciled monthly.
• Assist with the monthly financial closing process to ensure that all functions are accurately completed
• Accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Distribute required monthly reports to Directors.
• Monthly maintenance of the fixed asset listings.
• Prepare monthly rental billings for leased space.
• Responsible for monthly statistical reporting and distribution to appropriate personnel.
• Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Financial data gathering and submission for a variety of disclosure requirements
• Maintain highly confidential information on employee salaries, patient account data, and financial operations.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budget.
• Assist in the preparation of the year-end audits for CMCH and CMO.
• Assist with gathering the required financial data for annual Medicare Cost report.
• Assist with gathering the required financial data for CMCH and CMO 990.
• Prepare annual hospital insurance applications and work with insurance company on an as needed basis.
• Maintain Payer Contracts and act as liaison for contract representatives and CMCH.
• Responsible for facility credentialing/recredentialing.
• Responsible for maintaining hospital contracts and uploading them to the contracting software program.
• Assists the AP clerk on an as needed basis for backup.
• Serve on hospital committees and task forces.
