Production Planner

Location: Greensboro, NC

Position Type: Manufacturing, Planner, Logistics

Overview: 

The Production Planner is responsible for the scheduling of production, as well as capacity planning and communication with operational departments involved in production and logistics. This position will report to and assist the Master Production Scheduler. The successful candidate must have very strong computer, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

• Reviews sales forecast and customer order demands to establish sequence and lead time of each operation and determine the accuracy of master production schedule.
• Analyzes plant capacity data and production specifications and performs mathematical calculations to determine labor/material requirements to meet the time demands of the plan.
• Interfaces with Customer Service Department, Sales Department and Plant Supervisors to ensure that plan efficiency and schedule adherence are maintained to satisfy customer demands.
• Reviews and approves engineering changes or new product implementation for feasibility and schedule into the production plan for execution.
• Expedites needed purchased materials and recommends material substitution to ensure the production schedule is maintained and to meet any unforeseen conditions.
• Monitors inventory levels (dollars/units) of assigned product line.
• Maintains and updates item master list as necessary.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by Manager.

Qualifications:

• BS/BA degree preferred (preferably in an Industrial Engineering, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or Business Management).
• Experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
• Firm understanding of manufacturing and distribution processes.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles and processes, and a passion for continuous improvement preferred.
