CAMC Health System is Hiring an Accounting Coordinator -- Accounting & Financial Reporting -- General Hospital Near Charleston, WV

Support corporate director, accounting operations director, managers, and finance administration in carrying out accounting processes in a multi-company corporate structure. Identify and coordinate/lead financial projects throughout the system detailing financial results. Attend meetings and serve on committees involving both day to day operations and strategic initiatives. Coordinate professional accounting staff in performing accounting functions, preparation of reports, tax returns, and statistics in regards to financial results. Review work of professional staff. Lead the department in achieving successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Identify and coordinate process improvements internally (within accounting and financial reporting) and externally (crossing departments/companies). Proactively identify and research complex issues. Collect, organize and prepare various forms of data for comparative and informational purposes. Define problems and coordinate resolution plan/solutions. Study feasibility and analyze cost-benefit of solutions. Coordinate and lead implementations as applicable. Prepare and make presentations as needed in order to communicate the above information. Evaluate and monitor outcomes. • Coordinate and lead junior staff in execution and accomplishment of work product including day to day initiatives as well as special projects. Lead/coach staff for enhanced employee engagement, satisfaction, effective performance and outcomes. Participate in staff annual performance & development planning and evaluation. • Coordinate, prepare, and oversee (review and support) preparation of annual 990 tax returns and others as needed. • Coordinate annual consolidated and various financial audits to ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures. • Interpret financial statements for Vandalia Health, Inc and its consolidated entities and competitors. • Maintain awareness of minor and major events and transactions which may have accounting implications or impact on any of the system financial statements including but not limited to changing trends, and practices and law within applicable industry. • Ensure accuracy of external reports which may have an effect on the financial reporting of the system or entity. • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. • Maintain Census reporting and business registration and licenses. • Perform complex special assignments and specialized projects. • Participate in work groups, committees, etc. as a financial representative and expert. • Exercise tact in all oral and written communications with whom professional contact is made to include support and communication with administrators, directors, managers, and diverse customer populations. Facilitate intra and inter-departmental communication, rapport, and conflict resolution to increase effective outcomes. • Represent department, Finance, and/or the system at local, state, and/or national level. • Work in collaboration with accounting and financial reporting department management and Finance administration to continuously improve accounting operations, processes and internal controls. • Lead efforts to evaluate, implement and train employees in the adoption and integration of technology.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Common Duties and Responsibilities (Essential duties common to all positions) 1. Maintain and document all applicable required education. 2. Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations. 3. Comply with the company's attendance policy. 4. Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. 5. Perform work in a cost effective manner. 6. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations. 7. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree (Required) Experience: 7 years progressive general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, financial reporting, and project management preferably in a healthcare setting. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP), taxation practices, and strong understanding of internal control practices. Demonstrated/proven experience with high risk accounting competencies and a majority of company defined Accountant Rotation competencies. Substitution: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting plus Masters in Accounting or related field OR CPA with 6 years direct accounting and financial reporting experience (preferably in healthcare) may substitute for Bachelor's degree and 7 years experience
