Description of Service Opportunity:
POSITION: 5-7 CPS Summer Scholars Summer Paraprofessional (1 position)
The CPS Summer Scholars program is a four week summer learning experience for current grade 5-7 students with demonstrated academic need.
The program will operate from 8:30-12:00 at The Putnam Avenue School from July 8 to August 2. The day is organized into a block schedule and studies will have Math, ELA and enrichment periods each day. The student teacher ratio will be 1:12.
The CPS Summer Scholars Paraprofessional, under the direction of the CPS Summer Scholars Principal, Director of MTSS, and Program Manager, will be responsible for:
Collaborating with the classroom teacher to provide a fun, safe, theme-based summer learning experience that promotes high expectations for all students;
Supporting literacy and math instruction with teacher guidance using district provided curriculum (Fishtank, Math Camp) and intervention materials;
Supporting classroom set-up, clean up, and maintaining the classroom environment;
Facilitating food service delivery and pick up;
Monitoring and supporting students during lunch, recess, and drop-off/pick-up;
Supporting students during local field trips and special events; and
Other duties as assigned.

7:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (teacher work day, July-August)
8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (student day, July-August)

CPS Summer Scholars paraprofessionals must have the ability to support students with a range of learning needs in multi-age classrooms. Associates degree or higher and experience working with children in urban environments strongly preferred. Priority will be given to regularly appointed paraprofessionals from Cambridge Public School District.
Length of Contract: May 1-August 2, 2024
Contract Amount:
May-June, 2024: $25 per hour ($250, not to exceed 10 hours)
July-August, 2024: $25 per hour ($2,750, not to exceed 110 hours)
