Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Culture and Equity to lead and drive Lexia's Culture and Equity efforts, including Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) efforts in partnership with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing organizational strategies, programs, and initiatives that promote internal Lexia culture and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across Lexia as well as coordinating and liaising with the VP of DEIB at Cambium. This position reports directly to the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) of Lexia and collaborates with internal CommUNITY Collaborative Committee (CCC) members, Lexia's People Experience representatives, Employee Resource Group (ERG) representatives, and Lexia senior leadership to foster a culture that values and celebrates inclusion and diversity as we strive to make sure that all of our employees feel seen, valued and supported.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategy Development: Develop, implement, grow, and maintain a comprehensive culture and equity strategy, including ERG work across Cambium, aligned with and in support of Lexia's goals, values and purpose. Continuously assess and improve the strategy based on industry best practices, employee feedback and evolving needs in pursuit of our purpose. Develop best practices that include not only accessibility within our products for our customers, but also for our internal employees in order to be successful in their roles within Lexia and across Cambium (e.g., how they access daily tools like Teams/Zoom).

Leadership and Collaboration: Collaborate with senior leaders, managers, and employees to identify and address barriers to a values-driven culture and equity in the workplace. Provide strategic leadership to drive Culture and DEIB initiatives across all of Lexia including sharing ways to weave Lexia values throughout our everyday work. Provide thought leadership and consultation to a wide variety of stakeholders to integrate culture and equity principles into various business processes, policies, and procedures. Additional leadership for the following structures:

  • Build a collaborative and working relationship with:
    • Cambium VP of DEIB and CLG DEIB Collective
    • People Experience (HR) teams
    • Community Collaborative Committee (CCC)
    • Employee Resource Group (ERG) program

Communication: Serve as a champion for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the organization. Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness, promote understanding, and foster a sense of belonging among employees.

Metrics and Reporting: Partner with the Executive Leadership Team to drive impact through DEIB metrics and track progress to goals. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of DEIB initiatives. Regularly analyze data, generate reports, and present findings to senior leadership, identifying areas for improvement and recommending appropriate strategies.

Job Requirements:

  • Passionate about creating an inclusive and equitable workplace and advancing diversity and inclusion efforts.
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in a dedicated DEIB or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of DEIB best practices, theories, and frameworks. Training experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive DEIB strategies and initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and empathize with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong program management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and also independently, with minimal supervision, including facilitating work with ERG Co-leads and other cross functional teams.
  • Experience in managing diversity-related metrics, influencing change, tracking progress, and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Background and history in K-12 education and/ or K-12 ed tech preferred.
