Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium (CNCP) is a nonprofit organization with the mission of “Inspiring People to Connect with Nature”. CNCP focuses on the care of non-releasable rehabilitated wildlife, environmental education, astronomy, and ecological well-being for the SWFL community and visiting guests.
Responsibilities May Include but Are Not Limited To:
1. Identify areas on the property that need immediate rehabilitation/attention, including hazards to the native environment and program participants and provide remediation through power and hand tools and manual labor
2. Maintain that site/grounds and facilities are safe for visitors/program participants and appear in healthy condition
3. Maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment
4. Initiate, design, and implement a natural lands and facility maintenance log
5. Work with Executive Director to prioritize needs of property/site and prepare plan of action for remediation of areas in need of repair
6. Train and provide supervision to volunteers for daily ad special projects
7. Assists with other responsibilities as needed
Qualifications :
1. Ability to learn the knowledge of SWFL ecosystem function and gain proficiency at identifying native, nonnative, and invasive fauna of SW Florida
2. Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office applications
3. Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and priorities
4. Experience working with power and hand tools
5. Excellent organizational and time management skills
6. Love of working outside and interest in protecting the environment
7. Excellent personal initiative and motivation
8. High School Diploma
9. Desire to work in a collaborative environment
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds
2. Ability to climb ladders, handle heavy brush, walk for extended periods, and stand for extended periods
Full Time – Up to 40 Hours a Week @ $17.00 an hour
