About the PositionThe Personal Care Attendant (PCA), under the direction and supervision of the Day Center Supervisor, will provide personal care services to PACE participants in the day health center, including other duties as assigned to assist the primary care, therapy and adult day health staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Participates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability.
- Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department.
- Provides personal care and escort assistance in accordance with individual treatment plans including peri-care, grooming, dressing, showering, bathing, toileting, feeding and ambulation.
- Reports visible changes in the participant's condition to the Day Center Supervisor and PCA Lead.
- Communicates participant health and safety concerns under the guidance and supervision of the Day Center Supervisor and PCA Lead.
- Demonstrates safe practices utilizing proper body mechanics and compliance with universal precautions.
- Participates in social and recreation activities with participants as appropriate.
- Conducts daily physical activities, ergonomically, while assisting frail elders to avoid injury.
- Implements interventions to training, as directed by rehabilitation and nursing staff, including use of mechanical assistance for participant transfers, mobility and patient care.
- Assists with food service delivery and monitoring during mealtimes.
- Documents services rendered daily.
- Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Experience & Education:- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of Home Health Aide (HHA), Medical Assistant program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license required.
- 1 year of experience with the frail or elderly population required.
- 6 months of clinical experience as a Personal Care Aide, CNA, LVN or Medical Assistant required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above is also qualifying.
- CPR and First-Aid Certification required or must be obtained within six (6) months of date of hire.
- Complete and pass the PACE approved curriculum for Personal Care Aides upon hire.
- Complete and pass the ServSafe Food Handler Certificate upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:- Bilingual in English and in one of CalOptima Health's defined threshold language (Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese).

- Work Environment: Employee must be able to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team model, interfacing and collaborating with a wide range of clinical and social services disciplines who work together to manage the PACE members' care. The work setting is the Adult Day Health Center and includes a primary care clinic environment with moderate noise levels and controlled office temperatures.
