The Dispatch Assistant is responsible for supporting Operations through the coordination and manages truck driver schedules to ensure products and goods are picked up and delivered in a timely manner.Verifies availability and arranges pick up, delivery, recovery and drops times. Plans driver routes and accommodatesroute changes as needed. Prepares dispatch documents for daily routes. Effectively communicates any special handling requirements, site location details or potential hazards or challenges. Communicates with drivers and customers regarding details about shipments, arrival time, delays and discrepancies. Updates status of shipment in dispatch software when driver reports a delay, attempt or refusal. Monitors driver progress using GPS and dispatch software. Solves routine problems drivers encounter on their routes. Escalates problems to Sr. Dispatcher or Supervisor as needed. Assists Sr. Dispatcher regarding daily and future route planning based on understanding available resources and equipment. Assists drivers with questions about driver safety and freight management apps. Understands DOT regulations and reviews daily drivers logs. Monitorsand coordinates truck repair and maintenance schedules. Keeps up to date on transportation regulations and laws to ensure that truck drivers comply. This is a safety sensitive position that falls on federal security and drug regulations.
