California Primary Care Association is Hiring a Controller - Hybrid Sacramento CA Near Sacramento, CA

Association’s Mission: California Primary Care Association's mission is to lead and position community clinics, health centers and networks through advocacy, education, and services as key players in the health care delivery system to improve the health status of their communities.
Purpose of Position: Under general direction from the Chief Financial Officer, Controller compiles and analyzes financial forecasts, cash flow projections, reports and presentations; creates and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensures financial information has been recorded accurately; identifies trends and developments and presents findings to CFO; performs reconciliation of internal accounts; relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals; performs a variety of complicated tasks; leads and directs the work of others and develops and implements clear financial and internal operational policies and procedures of the Association and oversees the CPCA Ventures Loan Programs. A wide degree of resourcefulness and digital innovation is expected.

Primary Responsibilities:
 
  1. Analyze general ledger accounts and prepare necessary journal entries.
  2. Plan, manage, and assist with the daily functions, operations, and activities of the Finance department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections.
  3. Manage month-end closing of financial statements; prepare journal entries, review entries prepared by staff; input data into general ledgers; ensure that all departments have submitted bills for month end.
  4. Review monthly bank reconciliations, investigate, and resolve any unreconciled differences and prepare cash flow analysis and forecasted cash projections.
  5. Assist CFO with year-end audit; analyze data and prepare audit work papers for and interact with auditors.
  6. Ensure the integrity of the general ledger system, maintain chart-of-accounts.
  7. Process and maintain fixed asset information and depreciation.
  8. Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to general ledgers.
  9. Assist various other departments with accounting related issues and prepare accounting reports for them and senior management.
  10. Analyze and reconcile various balance sheet accounts, such as inter-company receivables, accrued payables, deferred accounts, etc.
  11. Develop reports to assist with analysis and forecasting.
  12. Prepare individual departmental income statements, balance sheets, and income statements for our three affiliated corporations and prepare consolidated financial statements.
  13. Assist with grant management: developing budgets, tracking and periodic grant reporting.
  14. Assist in the preparation of association annual Budget and budget revisions. Help develop, track, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports for external and internal use.
  15. Ensure membership billings are processed and collections tracked for dues and services e.g. training revenues, partnership agreements
  16. Serve as administrator for our 403b Retirement Plan.
  17. Provide Accounting Policy Orientation for new staff members.
Skills and Abilities Required: 
  1. Assist with grant and budget management, grant award/contract review and required reporting.
  2. Develop a high level of expertise in assigned content areas to provide guidance and technical assistance to staff and Association membership.
  3. Strong presentation and written communication skills.
  4. Develop solid relationships with strategic partners, vendors, Association membership and the board of directors.
  5. Work collaboratively with senior leadership and multi departmental teams.
  6. Supervise, train, and evaluate staff.
  7. Advanced problem solving, critical thinking, organization, and time management.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, web-based applications-platforms, experienced user in Sage Intacct cloud platform preferred, or willing to become a power user of the platform.
  9. Self-direction, ability to innovate and recommend strategic direction and influence change.
Additional Responsibilities: 
  1. Support the Association’s Strategic Plan and execute deliverables in designated areas as assigned.
  2. Supports the Association’s vision of being an antiracist organization by utilizing JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) practices in work and relationships.
  3. Report regularly to supervisor.
  4. Participate in CPCA events and represents the Association as requested to include state and national events.
  5. Travel for national and regional meetings, training and site visits by air and ground transportation.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of five years advanced management or equivalent experience. Experience with grant-funded non-profit organizations, member-driven associations or community health centers is also preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

Compensation: $135,741 -$143,726
 

Association Expectation:Due to network security this position requires the employee to have a cell phone with a data plan and home internet service, both are reimbursed at a set rate each month. All hires are required to maintain residence in California.
