Job Description and Duties
Supervises the Office Assistants (Typing) in the clerical unit. Coordinates initial training and orientation of new employees, and serves as mentor and coach. Ensures all subordinates complete on-line training mandated by the Department. Cross-trains all employees to promote efficient Area operations. Monitors training and effectiveness of all clerical staff. Approves and monitors requests for time off to ensure adequate coverage within the clerical unit. Delegates, prepares, and reviews work assignments of subordinate staff. Reviews and proofreads documents prepared by subordinate staff. Prepares, discusses, and issues annual performance appraisals and probationary evaluations of assigned staff. Recognizes the need for formal disciplinary action and prepares and issues commendable and/or censurable incident reports, Memorandum of Counseling, and additional documents for progressive discipline per departmental policies and procedures. Counsels employees regarding performance of duties, demeanor, and attendance as necessary.
