California Health Sciences University is Hiring a Standardized Patient Learning and Development Trainer Near Clovis, CA

Summary:

The role of Standardized Participant Learning and Development Trainer (SPLDT) will contribute to the success of the SP program by assisting the Director of the Simulation Center. Coordinating the increasing number of sessions, training newly hired SPs to the role, and ongoing SP development will be a primary function of this individual. Record keeping, reports, and scheduling will organize the growing program. Functioning as a proficient standardized patient to medical students, this role demonstrates competency in the knowledge of safe SP practice and procedure. As a team member of the CHSU Simulation Center, this position aids in standardized participant programing, scheduling, and training in patient cases ensuring desired outcomes are achieved.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare standardized participants and patients (SPs) to provide quality patient care experience using safe practices
  • Provide detailed training for all SPs into evidence-based patient case scenarios
  • Assist in writing patient cases working with faculty subject matter experts including writing SP scripts for authenticity
  • Assist in the development of SP training materials
  • Conduct interviews of potential SPs
  • Assist and conduct onboarding, orientation, and training of new SPs to the program
  • Assist in the evaluation of SPs providing formative feedback for improvement
  • Work with the Standardized Patient Coordinator to organize the scheduling of SPs for simulation activities and evaluation
  • Make phone calls, develop meeting agendas, and record meeting minutes
  • Manage SP data (evaluations, demographics) and tracking of employment hours
  • Participate and assist with SP and simulation center quality improvement
  • May direct staff, students, and community participants while in the simulation center
  • Manage resources needed for the SP program, track inventory, and request supply reorder
  • Engage in personal ongoing professional development in SP education
  • Assist as needed with the simulation team in preparation and implementation of all simulation activities
  • Ensure quality assurance by assisting in evaluation of SP role performance and contribute to constructive feedback both written and verbal
  • Encourage, participate, and assist in research and scholarly activities
  • Work with the simulation center director and team to develop and maintain accreditation standards and expectations
  • Advise the Director of the Simulation Center concerns and/or important issues facing the SP program with recommendations for solutions
  • Participate in community outreach programs conducted by the simulation center
  • Conduct self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of the COM at CHSU
  • Participate in Simulation Center tours, community outreach programs and other duties as assigned
  • Attend simulation center meetings as requested
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications/Education:

  • Associates Degree or higher, preferred
  • Will consider extensive level experience in lieu of educational requirement
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.63 - $30.28 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
