As our Energy Efficiency Specialist, you will have the opportunity to :

  • Oversee and manage the state's Energy Demand Response program to contribute to the dependability, reliability, and stability of California's electric grid system.
  • Manage the state's contract with a Demand Response Provider, ensuring effective collaboration with contractors.
  • Assist state departments in programming building management systems for energy-efficient operations and readiness to respond to energy emergencies.
  • Identify retrocommissioning opportunities to address operational issues related to HVAC systems & controls, lighting controls, and other energy-consuming systems.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Ability to research and analyze complex sustainability issues, synthesize findings and present information clearly in reports, and graphically.
  • Ability to accept multiple assignments and meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly acquire technical knowledge.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders including other state agencies, utility companies and other government entities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicating verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to make presentations to management, in meetings, and others.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and similar applications).
  • Understanding of sustainability principles including energy savings strategies.
