The Events Specialist position resides in the Marketing department at CableLabs. This department is responsible for logistics and planning for all CableLabs events – large and small, off-site and in-house, as well as supporting various logistics of SCTE events. Our team plays a crucial role in providing event products that allow our members and vendors access to updated information on CableLabs technology developments, in a non-competitive environment.

The position requires executive-level support for our members, teamwork with every level of CableLabs staff, and a clear understanding of current event tools and technology in support of events. The impact of your work will provide event attendees with their first impression of every event – this position is the face of CableLabs to set the tone for a positive event experience. We are looking for candidates with well-developed communication, organizational and customer service skills. This role requires someone who is a strategic thinker and capable of seeing the overall picture, is well organized and detail-oriented and has the ability to work independently, exercise independent initiative, and work under pressure.


What You’ll Do

  • Respond to all registration inquiries for registration assistance and guidance on activating member/vendor accounts
  • Assist with on-site member registration for conferences
  • Manage smaller project events
  • Assist with / manage staff events
  • Attend and contribute to department meetings.
  • Process invoices for Corporate Events
  • Travel to company events to provide support as required
  • Create Badges for conference attendees
  • Cross-training for various other event positions – web registration pages, mailer distribution, etc.
  • Initial sourcing outreach for new events spaces
  • Logo items sourcing management
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Is a Must Have

  • 1-3 years corporate event planning
  • Professional business writing skills for responses to registration and event inquiries
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced dynamic environment, prioritize,
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), as well as basic web editing tools
  • Experience in Event Ready or other event registration software
  • Working knowledge of Zoom
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Willingness to be a team player at all times
  • Supportive of in-office work requirements

Compensation: The salary range is $79,250 - $96,750. This position is eligible for bonus incentive compensation up to 17.5% of base salary.

Working conditions and physical requirements

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

  • This position requires long hours on site at events, often over weekends and minor holidays, and the ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Travel sometimes will have a duration of up to twelve (12) days for larger events.
  • This position requires long hours on show floors and at show sites – often with hours beginning as early as 6 a.m. and running into the evening. The position required the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds of equipment, signage, boxes, etc.
