Cabell Huntington Hospital/St. Mary is Hiring a System Architect Near Huntington, WV

Reporting to the Manager of Technical Services, the Systems Architect is the lead of a team responsible for the design, deployment, troubleshooting and maintenance of virtual computing environment and domain services. This includes being lead on the team responsible for maintaining automation tools for virtual desktops, virtual applications, gateway technologies providing distributed access to these resources. This position would also be the lead for the team responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining the on-premise domain services, cloud domain services, enterprise Exchange environment and security tools with strong integration to the domain.

System Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • All below duties include both the design and supervision of other team members deployment of those designs in the following responsibilities.
  • Implement and support centralized tools for virtual computing and distributed application access using tools provided by suites including Citrix, VMware, Azure or Windows 365.
  • Maintain and support enterprise external gateways allowing access to the virtualized computing and applications environments.
  • Test applications and security patches to ensure interoperability.
  • Plan and execute upgrades of the virtual environments.
  • Managing the fleet of thin client computing tools including Dell Wyse, IGel and Windows ThinOS.
  • Managing security and licensing access to the virtual environments.
  • Ensures all supported software and hardware is patched and updated, coordinating maintenance and downtime as necessary.
  • Supports Help Desk staff with tickets related to virtual desktops and virtual application issues.
  • Supports Help Desk staff with tickets related to thin client, BYOD or other access layer related issues.
  • Utilize logical problem solving to find creative solutions to problems in the environment on a broad scale.
  • Works with an automation mind set. Proven expertise in the use and creation of virtualization environments using hypervisors and management layer software like Nerdio and Citrix.
  • Work with stakeholders and other technical teams to collect business and technical requirements and design / deliver enterprise level solutions.
  • Create and update technical documentation of operating procedures as environments change to remain current.
  • Collaborates and communicates with architects with internal departments and vendor partners.
  • Own and lead discussions in business and technical information technology solution implementations, upgrades, enhancement, and conversions. Recommends solutions as appropriate.
  • Design and architect a global Active Directory Infrastructure, including, design and implementation of Group Policy and domain consolidation for all domains in the organization.
  • Manage, plan and implement AD Domain Services, AD Sites and Services, GPOs, DHCP, DNS and Exchange for all of the organizations domains.
  • Provide and maintain automation and integration with all the applications the organization interfaces with AD DS.
  • Maintain, plan and test backup and disaster recovery plans for all domains in the organization.
  • Utilize logical problem solving to find creative solutions to problems in the environment on a broad scale.
  • Plan and execute Active Directory Domain level upgrades.
  • Plan and design Group Policy Objects as requested to ensure compliance of organization policies for servers and user end-point devices.
  • Manages licenses for servers and software.
  • Ensures all AD DS hardware is patched and updated, coordinating maintenance and downtime as necessary.
  • Supports help desk staff with tickets related to domain issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Active Directory, GPO, and password/identity management systems.
  • Works with an automation mind set. Proven expertise in the use and creation of PowerShell scripts.
  • Create and update technical documentation of operating procedures as needed.
  • Own and lead discussions in business and technical information technology solution implementations, upgrades, enhancement and conversions. Recommends solutions as appropriate.
  • Strong understanding of architecting and configuring Microsoft Windows OS technology including AD Forests, Domains, Trusts, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and Organizational Units.
Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related IT field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Relevant certification (MCSE, MCSA, and Relevant Microsoft Certifications) is preferred.

Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in managing Domain Services, virtual PC and IT infrastructure.
  • Hospital or healthcare experience is preferred.

  • Strong network analysis fundamentals.
  • Strong application virtualization skills.
  • Experience with VMWare, Xenserver, Hyper-V or some other Hypervisor.
  • Experience with virtual end user computing and distributed application access tools like Citrix, AVD, Windows 365 or Horizon.
  • Experience with edge of network gateway tools like Netscaler, Citrix MPX, or F5.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal are required.
  • Customer service and interpersonal skills needed for working with clinicians and coworkers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively about complex matters with others who have varying levels of education.
  • Ability to work under pressure and on multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Advanced skill level with MS Office.
