Cabell Huntington Hospital/St. Mary is Hiring a Director of Project Management Near Huntington, WV

The Director of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) leads a team of Project/Program/Portfolio Managers accountable for the on-time, in-budget delivery of business-critical projects as defined in the overall organizational strategic plan. The EPMO Director establishes and matures the function of the EPMO and owns its success to deliver measurable business outcomes and value. The EPMO Director leads and aligns people, processes, and technology to deliver holistic, well-managed change. This critical, high-impact role serves as the catalyst to bring MHN's strategic execution to life through the effective planning and delivery of strategic priorities, growth initiatives, and acquisition integrations. The EPMO Director brings experience in large-scale, enterprise-wide change, EPMO leadership, and project and program management, coupled with a pragmatic, hands-on approach to drive progress in the project portfolio, mitigate execution risk, and deliver results. The EPMO Director acquires resources and coordinates the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver enterprise-wide projects. The EPMO Director leads and motivates a team of Project Managers and support staff, develops and enhances enterprise-wide and internal project processes, and provides leadership throughout the entire lifecycle of required projects. The EPMO Director provides thought leadership and project portfolio level reporting to the Executive Leadership team.

System-Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead a group of Enterprise Project Managers and support staff. Lead and manage assigned direct reports.
  • Create and lead a cohesive, high-performing team of project managers that partner with stakeholders from initial conception and strategic planning sessions through successful execution and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and bring a deep understanding of EPMO-defined governance, processes, tools, methodologies, and resources where structure is needed.
  • Define, communicate, and execute the organization's vision and strategies for effective project management.
  • Build strong relationships with all stakeholders and foster cooperation, coordination, and communication between the organization and globally dispersed leaders.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the EPMO team for the effective and timely execution of projects and facilitate governance for the project portfolio and each individual project. This includes project contributors who do not directly report to the EPMO Director.
  • Effectively track, report, address, and escalate portfolio and project issues and risks with the proper stakeholder engagement.
  • Serve as a change agent, supporting both the identification and application of new project management concepts and driving the spread of best practices organization-wide while resolving issues and breaking down barriers along the way.
  • Optimize and improve EPMO performance and effectiveness through innovative approaches and continuous process improvement. This includes developing a common language for project managers, functional leaders, and other stakeholders to enable smooth communication and ensure expectations are fully understood.
  • Optimize capacity and utilization resource planning to execute strategic growth with staff resources, including external staff (consultants, contractors, and vendors) and internal staff that do not directly report to the EPMO Director.
  • Drive innovation, use contemporary analytics and other qualitative problem-solving strategies to analyze opportunities, develop solutions, implement changes, and track results.
  • Demonstrate effective EPMO team building, ensuring bench strength and expertise that meet the organization's needs while allowing growth opportunities and maximizing retention.
  • Manage and oversee department and enterprise project budgets, adhering to budget while ensuring quality, achieving intended outcomes, and mitigating risks.
  • Provide periodic review of team member performance using formal and informal mechanisms; mentor team members in best practices to provide skill development and mentorship.
  • Evaluate the EPMO for continual improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of the group, as well as ensuring team members have access to professional and personal growth within the organization.
Requirements:

Education:

  • Master's degree required
  • Project Management Professional Certification required
  • Lean Six-Sigma qualification preferred

Experience

  • 15 Years of Position-Related Experience

The kind of position-related experience includes:

  • Experience in progressive management, including 15 years of Project Management experience.
  • 15 years of expert-level program, project, and change management in various methodologies, leading enterprise, cross-functional end-to-end process redesign, transformation, and improvement initiatives, with varied methodologies and a history of successful transformations.
  • Experience leading a formal PMO and Project Management for Governance, Business, and IT Strategy. Experience managing vendors and negotiating vendor contracts.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication, detail and action orientation, collaboration, negotiation, facilitation, and influencing skills to lead an environment driven by client service and teamwork.
  • Advanced analytical and reporting skills required to organize, plan, and direct the work of teams and develop implementation plans for the organization's strategic IS plan.

IV: PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to push/pull light objects less than 20 pounds; perform simple manipulative skills such as writing, collating, and grasping objects; perform tasks that require eye-hand coordination such as operating computers and keyboarding skills; perform gross motor coordination such as reaching, turning, and moving about; be mobile and move from one place to another; hearing normal sounds with some background noise; hearing normal sounds with some background noise, perform moderately difficult manipulative skills; see objects closely.
