C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. is Hiring a Backhoe Operator Near Jacksonville, FL

Backhoe Operator’s primary function is to operate all sizes of Backhoe both track and rubber tire assisting with all aspect of the grading operation. All equipment operators’ are expected to run other equipment such as Bulldozers and loaders as needed. Equipment operators are also expected to assist in the general operation of each job site.

The position consists of but is not limited to the following duties:

Flagging traffic
Set up and maintenance of erosion control;
Loading and unloading of materials;
Shoveling dirt, gravel, and asphalt;
General clean up around job site;
Checking and maintaining grade stakes;
Set up and maintenance of all traffic control aids;
Operating rollers, articulating dump trucks, tamps, and pans, and any other equipment employee is able to operate;
Driving pick-ups, flatbeds, water trucks, and sand trucks;
Maintenance of all equipment and tools.

The job duties described herein are not exhaustive and may be supplemented. The above listed duties require periods of standing, walking, climbing, stooping and bending. As well as periodic lifting of 10 to 50 pounds. In addition duties may require working from heights such as bridge beams or bridge caps. Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
