Proposal and Communications Strategist

CG Schmidt is seeking a skilled and experienced Proposal and Communications Strategist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to effectively communicate our company's capabilities, values, and project successes through compelling proposals, creative interview presentations and other communication channels. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, superior writing skills, and an understanding of the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Proposal Mastery
  • Lead the development of high-quality proposals, bids, and other submissions in response to RFPs (Request for Proposals), RFQs (Request for Qualifications), and other solicitations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, engineers, estimators, and marketing personnel to gather information and develop proposal content.
  • Ensure proposals are tailored to meet the specific needs and requirements of each client or project.
  • Manage the proposal process from start to finish, including scheduling strategy meetings, content development, editing, formatting, and submission.
  • Interview Strategy & Design
  • Create high-level, custom presentation templates and graphics specific to highlight client collaboration
  • Ensure interview presentations effectively communicate key information and leave a positive impression of CG Schmidt.
  • Strategic Communications Expertise
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to promote the company's brand, projects, and achievements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the company's visibility and reputation through various communication channels including social media, website, press releases, and industry publications.
  • Create engaging content such as articles, case studies, blog posts, and newsletters to highlight the company's expertise and thought leadership.
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to inform communication strategies and messaging.
  • Manage award submission process.
  • School Referendum Communications
  • Develop and execute strategic communication plans to support school referendum initiatives.
  • Collaborate with school districts, educational administrators, and community stakeholders to understand referendum objectives and messaging priorities.
  • Create compelling content and materials to educate the public about proposed school initiatives and encourage voters.
  • Effectively communicate complex educational initiatives to diverse audience
  • Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients, industry partners, and stakeholders to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Collaborate with business development and service line leaders to support client engagement and acquisition efforts.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote brand awareness and build connections.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of proposal and communication strategies through metrics such as win rates, engagement metrics, and feedback from clients and stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements to optimize processes and outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of best practices, emerging technologies, and innovations in proposal development and communications.
  • Miscellaneous functions to fill in & support as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or relevant experience) in marketing, communications, journalism, business administration, or a related field.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in proposal development, communications, or marketing, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant software tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing proposal processes and winning new business.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute communication strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience working in the AEC industry, including terminology, processes and best practices
  • Proven track record of successfully managing proposal processes and winning new business.
  • Working knowledge of AI tools to aid with communications content creation.
  • Creative individual who can think outside the box and bring fresh ideas and innovative solutions to our proposal and interview presentations.
  • Monday.com proficiency preferred or any project management software platform
