Job Description
Under the supervision of the Buildings and Grounds Director, the Maintenance Technician I perform semi-skilled and unskilled minor maintenance work in the care and cleaning of county owned buildings and associated grounds. Work involves general cleaning of the interior with some minor exterior cleaning. Work involved general upkeep on the building interiors and exteriors, lighting, plumbing, and electrical systems as well as general cleaning and grounds maintenance. Job Duties
100.00% - ~ Cleans all glass doors and accessible windows;
~ Cleans, vacuum carpets and mats;
~ Cleans, mops, strips, and waxes floors;
~ Dusts and wet mops all non-carpeted flooring;
~ Dusts counter tops, windowsills, etc;
~ Empties trash containers;
~ Maintains paper towels, toilet paper, soap dispensers, and other supplies found in the restrooms;
~ Performs light electrical, plumbing and lighting repairs;
~ Stocks and oversees janitorial supplies in various county facilities;
~ Sanitizes, deodorizes, cleans restrooms, baseboards, fixtures, sinks, water fountains, furniture;
~ Assists in general landscaping, mowing, painting, and light maintenance duties;
~ Performs other duties as deemed necessary or as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Maintenance Tech I - ~ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals;
~ Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;
~ Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs;
~ Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations;
~ Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of verbal and written communications, conveying and receiving detailed or important instructions to and from other workers;
~ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
~ Ability to reliably and predictably carry out duties;
~ Ability to speak effectively before or communicate with employees of an organization;
~ Ability to use power and hand tools, floor polishing equipment;
~ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
~ Knowledge in the care and handling of chemicals;
~ Knowledge of general cleaning.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk, use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; run; climb or balance and stoop, squat, bend, twist, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lifting, moving, pushing or pulling up to 25 pounds does generally occur. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Working with both hand and power tools are factors in this position.
