BusPatrol is Hiring a Field Service Team Lead Eastern PA Near Allentown, PA

Overview

Location: Eastern PA

Travel: Ability to travel and work when school buses are not in operation; OT and occasional weekends may be required. Field deployments are 2 weeks out and 1 week home. Travel by air or driving as required based on distance. Travel required 50-75% of the time.

Travel Benefits: Flight, hotel and rental car provided by company, ultra-competitive per diems also provided; when working from home must have own vehicle to travel throughout local region (will receive mileage)

Education: Trade, vocational or technical school degree is preferred. ASE or similar certifications a plus; military training experience is also a plus

Salary: dependent on candidate skillset/years of relevant experience.

Experience/Requirements: Minimum of 3–4-years technician service experience or schooling in an applicable field: Prior experience in coordinating Field Service Technician projects and acting as a project lead on field service initiatives. Strong mechanical, mathematical and reasoning aptitude is required. 

General Summary: 

BusPatrol Field Service Team Leads lead the installation and service of BusPatrol camera and communication equipment on BusPatrol customer fleets. They are responsible to guide Field Service teams to meet installation and service schedules, sets, and achieves high quality standards. They Supervise installations and service according to defined operating procedures. Field Service Team Leads performs systemic troubleshooting and implementation of solutions to service challenges. They are responsible to set an environment of guidance and support within the team to ensure team effectiveness. They also work to ensure assigned teams have the resources, training, and guidance they need to meet schedule and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures project success through the direction and coordination of technicians and field services resources. Delivers assigned install and repair quantities. Records and communicates daily deliverables to field service teams in a timely manner.
  • Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. 
  • Coordinates operations independently with customers and communicates critical issues such as errors, or resource issues to appropriate BusPatrol field leadership.
  • Lives BusPatrol Values by being a reliable, courteous, and consistent team player. Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Coaches the team on living the BusPatrol values and ensures all team members treat each other in a respectful manner. Promotes a team environment of openness, honesty, productivity, and mission- and customer-focused cooperation.
  • Champions quality and safety standards with all team members and partners. Follow all safety guidelines. Monitors and corrects observed safety guideline compliance issues.
  • Works with schematics, install and service manuals, CAD drawings to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair units while in the field.
  • Operates a variety of standard hand and power tools, analog/digital test equipment, and CCTV testing devices. 
  • Runs wires, manages cabling, connects components, mounts devices, and effectively solves problems while maintaining a high-quality standard.
  • Uses diagnostic equipment including multimeters & software to isolate wiring issues, network connectivity issues, equipment failures, and operational anomalies. 
  • Uses signal flow to trace and resolve network cable issues. 
  • Effectively terminates and test basic connections such as butt splices, insulated connectors, terminal strips/blocks, others.
  • Installs and terminates sub-devices (i.e., patch panels, junction boxes) and head-end equipment to include power and proper grounding. 
  • Generates, evaluates, and implements solutions to routine problems. Provides basic level of system diagnostics and troubleshooting such as electrical connections.
  • Liaises with Engineering and Quality to diagnose and resolves any system-affecting issue. Performs root cause of system analysis along the chain of possible issues, including diagnosing possible hardware or software issues, power, or pre-existing bus issues.
  • Trains and coaches FSTs in the performance of their roles. Responsible for the onboarding, training, and performance management of technicians in partnership with regional leadership. Develops training and coaching plans, facilitate job shadowing, and leads the retraining of technicians on key skills as needed. Verifies that technicians have the skills needed to succeed and escalate training gaps to regional leaders.
  • Uses information technology and related applications, including adaptive devices and software, to convey and retrieve information. Enter, transcribe, record, and maintain information in written or electronic/digital format, including adaptive devices and software.
  • Advances checklist and other data through documentation and quality assurance workflows as needed.
  • Works effectively with others from diverse backgrounds, resolving conflict appropriately and building trust with colleagues.
  • Leads the BusPatrol interactions with customers and coordinates our operations with customer teams.
  • Plans and prioritizes personal work to manage time effectively and accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Coordinates project efforts with technician teams, customers, and internal BusPatrol stakeholders such as regional field and quality managers. Escalate issues relating to the day's schedule appropriately. Resolve resource and staffing issues.
  • Identifies, moves, stores, and helps ensure the supply construction and building materials for all types of construction activities. Lead the alignment of project and material resources to ensure schedule and quality outcomes are met.
  • Leads and supervises field service teams on installation projects and field service initiatives. Provides performance feedback to FSTs. Coaches FSTs in the performance of their roles. Act as the primary point of contact on projects to our customers and internal leaders. Ensures high quality and timely project completion.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Trade, vocational or technical school degree is preferred.
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3–4-years technician service experience or schooling in an applicable field: 12-volt electronics installs and service, OR GPS or fleet telemetry installs and service, OR Fire alarm installs and service, OR Access control, CCTV, or intercom systems, OR School or other transit bus mechanic. 
  • Prior experience in coordinating Field Service Technician projects and acting as a project lead on field service initiatives.
  • Strong mechanical, mathematical and reasoning aptitude is required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends when required.
  • Must be able to stand/bend for up to 8 hours and lift up to 75 lbs to shoulder height.
  • Position can include outdoor work, including hot or cold temperatures, confined spaces, extreme weather conditions, slippery and uneven walking surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, stooping, standing for long periods of time.
