**LOCATION** 1830 Route 130 North Burlington NJ US 08016 **Overview** Burlington Stores is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented **Payroll Accountant** to join our finance team. As a vital member, you will be responsible for a range of key functions, including general ledger account analysis, journal entry preparation, accrual calculations, and forecasting. Your role will involve performing monthly close procedures, preparing journal entries, and developing schedules and reports for variance analysis. Collaborating closely with FP&A and Business Support, you will play a crucial part in determining the calculation of plans and forecasts, providing summarized variance explanations. In addition, your expertise will contribute to maintaining data integrity by identifying errors and trends in accounting data. The successful candidate will also excel in responding to internal and external auditors, preparing work papers, and generating routine and ad-hoc reports. If you are a proactive and analytical professional with a keen eye for accuracy and a passion for optimizing payroll processes, we invite you to apply and become an integral part of our dynamic finance team. **A Day in the Life** Perform monthly close and analysis for financial accounting. Prepare journal entries and accrual calculations. Develop schedules and reports to conduct variance analysis, investigate variances and analyze drivers. Ensures data integrity by identifying errors/trends in accounting data to improve accuracy, timeliness, and general flow of accounting data. Partner with FP&A and Business Support to determine how plans/forecasts are calculated. Analyze and review forecast to actual results on both consolidated level and by location and department. Prepare summarized variance explanations. Prepare work papers and roll forwards, supporting schedules and documentation to support month end close. Create and monitor pre- and post-payroll reports for internal and external review; format files for consistency; audit daily reports and provides findings to management. Create and maintain supporting databases. Respond promptly and correctly to inquiries from internal and external auditors. Assist with routine and ad-hoc reporting. **You’ll Come With** Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting 3 years’ experience in payroll accounting including process, procedures and internal controls Proficiency in Payroll / Accounting / Financial Systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Solid analysis, research and audit skills Experience handling vendor transactions professionally and efficiently with quick, effective resolution. Experience in Oracle Financials, Cognos, adaptive financial software, Workday HCM a plus _Come join our team.
