Burlington School District is Hiring an Anticipated Speech Language Pathologist (SY24-25) Near Burlington, VT

Burlington High School is seeking a passionate and energetic Speech and Language Pathologist to join a school committed to high levels of achievement of all students. This position requires working with a caseload of up to 20 students with language development needs from diverse backgrounds. Applicants must be dedicated to the belief and desire for the inclusion of all students, and eager to be a member of a high energy, fast-paced dedicated special education team as well as individual student teams in support of student success for all.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

The following are Required:

  1. Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
  2. Endorsement as an SLP or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
  3. Currently qualified or eligible for CCC.
  4. Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  5. Evidence of strong commitment creating equitable, multicultural learning environments that are inclusive of, but not limited to: diverse races, ethnicities, places of national origin, citizenships, genders, sexual orientations, religious and spiritual beliefs, ages, physical and learning abilities, and economic class backgrounds.
  6. Evidence of cultural competence, as demonstrated through experiences working in diverse, multicultural learning environments or through the creation and implementation of curriculum or training initiatives.
  7. Experience in effectively working with and case-managing up to 20 students with a variety of speech and language needs in one-on-one and small group settings.
  8. Ability to diagnose and assess language development needs of 30-35 other students per year.
  9. Experience in planning, leading, and managing large and potentially complex IEP meetings with students, parents, teachers, outside agencies, community mentors, and other support people.
  10. Ability to train and supervise para-educators providing support services to students with language needs.
  11. Current knowledge and experience with Speech and Language assessments
  12. Completed SchoolSpring application, including 3 letters of recommendation.

The following are preferred:

  1. Evidence of integrating technology into the learning environment
  2. Experience in communicating and maintaining positive relationships with parents and guardians of students with intensive needs,.
  3. Demonstrated skills in effective consultation with teacher colleagues and other school and community supports to support student success in the classroom.
  4. Experience with general special education services and providing other academic and cognitive testing preferred.
  5. Experience in working with ELL students who have language development needs desirable.
  6. Demonstrated ability to complete required IEP and other required documents in a timely and efficient way.
  7. Strong communication skills as evidenced through quality of resume and cover letter
  8. Must possess strong, positive initiative and motivation to contribute to our vibrant community.

SALARY: As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association.
