State of Alaska is Hiring a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 1 Near Anchorage, AK

This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What you will be doing:
You will be working as part of the fast-paced Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Public Service team, examining documentation presented in order to issue multiple types of identification documents as well as titles and registrations. This position requires thorough attention to detail, problem solving, and reviewing and explaining driving privileges and regulations.
  • The Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 1 (MVCSR 1) will rotate occasionally between Anchorage and Eagle River based on business needs.
  • Multi-Tasking - Ability to multi-task by reviewing documents, data entering information while communicating verbally with customers in a loud open concept office setting.
  • Work Independently - Demonstrate independence by finding efficiencies, making decisions and minor problem solving.

The working environment you can expect:
The position is located at the DMV’s main office located inside the University Center on the Old Seward Hwy. in Anchorage and our Eagle River location, 11723 Old Glenn Hwy #113, Eagle River. The MVCSR 1 will be assigned to a work station in the public service lobby. The hours are 8:30 - 5:00, Monday through Friday, one hour lunch with overtime opportunities.

To be successful in the position, the ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities and experience:
  • Excellent Customer Service – Demonstrates professional and friendly customer service while handling a wide range of situations and demographics.
  • Cash Handling and Keyboarding Skills – Ability to accurately and efficiently enter information into multiple databases and correspond clearly through email both internally and with the public.
  • Multi-Tasking – Ability to multi-task by reviewing documents, data entering information while communicating verbally with customers in a loud open concept office setting.
  • Work Independently – Demonstrate independence by finding efficiencies, making decisions and minor problem solving.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of employment experience that included cash handling and working directly with clients or customers. Examples of qualifying experience include such work as sales cashier, bank teller, food service wait staff or cashier, and so on.
OR
Six months of office clerical employment experience providing information to clients, customers, or the general public on services, procedures, and requirements, which included entering or retrieving data using computer systems.

Substitution:
Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience. (Three semester hours or four quarter hours equal one month.)

Special Note:
A background check of criminal justice information will be conducted upon initial employment.
