The OPPORTUNITY:

Leverage your knowledge and industry experience and join our team in the software Quality Assurance Engineer III role. The QAIII Engineer ensures high-quality software delivery by planning, implementing, and, where appropriate, automating quality assurance testing. Responsibilities include developing test plans, creating test cases, writing test automation code, and reporting results and defects as well as guiding others in doing so and designing templates, processes, and best practices for use at BMIC. The QA III Engineer will work closely with business analysts, developers, and systems analysts in determining the best approaches to test.

Because the success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and serve, this hybrid role will work in our Raleigh office a minimum of two days with the flexibility of remote work three days a week.

Your WORK as the Quality Assurance Engineer III will make a difference as you:

  • Analyze and evaluate functional and technical specifications documents to develop test plans, cases, and scripts
  • Analyze systems for regression testing, evaluate and lead the implementation of proposed solutions
  • Analyze system incident reports (problem analysis), identify trends in quality or defects with a goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects. Determine and implement next steps for testing any changes
  • Lead impact analysis of proposed modifications to existing applications for functional regression testing, ensuring consistency throughout the QA Team
  • Design, document and manage test plans, test cases and test scripts working with business analyst and development teams 
  • Perform both automated and manual functional and regression testing through project lifecycle
  • Plan, design, document, and execute other tests as appropriate such as non-functional tests, edge-case testing, exploratory testing. Design and manage the test portfolio
  • Oversee peer and vendor reviews of testing
  • Perform and support Project Management activities including planning, status reporting, and management of client expectations
  • Perform customer and application support activities on the most complex projects 
  • Provide estimated level of effort to complete assignments
  • Guide and mentor more junior QAs and provide technical expertise to other QAs

SKILLS to get the JOB done RIGHT:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science required with at least 6 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient with automated testing tools in a property and casualty insurance setting.
  • Proficient with test management tools such as Quality Center, Selenium, Test Complete, and Zephyr.
  • Ability to facilitate teams, communicate and present effectively, and lead decision-making processes in a collaborative environment
  • Proven understanding of project management processes and requirements and development life cycles
  • Working knowledge of diagramming techniques such as Functional Decomposition, Data Flows, Activity Diagrams
  • Excellent command of scripting language (JavaScript or similar)
