Job Summary:

Supervisor is responsible for the management of the GL claims resulting from the General Liability product line and other Program Services. The Supervisor will ensure consistent compliance by the Liability Staff with Builders Best Claim practices. The Supervisor will participate in the hiring, training and development of the GL Staff.

What would be your day in the life at Builders?

• Ensure Liability Claims adjuster productivity and assist adjusters in developing and maintaining timely, efficient work flow to ensure claims are investigated and handled in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Ensure compliance with Builders Best Claim handling practices and procedures. Ensure adherence of the GL Staff to process/procedural/system changes.
• Evaluate job performance for all direct reports.
• Perform monthly audits of claim files and give direction on diary.
• Monthly one-on-one discussions with adjusters regarding audit results, productivity and overall performance.
• Assist and train adjusters, including handling litigation, hearings and mediations commensurate with their level of experience.
• Coordinate large loss reporting and monitor legal calendar for all pre-trials, mediations or hearings and verify defense representation.
• Facilitate completion of new and updated reporting to reinsurance carrier.
• Handle calls from policyholders and agents with general questions, specific claims and complaints. Participate in account visits and meetings as appropriate.
• Review and approve reserve increases, transfers and settlement requests.
• Attend continuing training programs in General Liability, rules and regulations for states in which Builders is licensed to do business.
• Ongoing identification of learning opportunities, develop resources and provide training.
• Additional duties and projects as assigned.

What skills will you need?

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or equivalent education and experience in Insurance or other related field.
• 15 years’ experience preferred in processing all claims aspects for assigned areas of business.
• 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to conduct presentations to customers, Senior Management and employees.
• Knowledge of legal statutes for applicable states.
• Knowledge of technical adjudication process, claims policy and procedures.
• Understand and adhere to fiduciary guidelines.
• Ability to work with individuals at all levels inside and outside of the company.
• Self-motivated and flexible with ability to work independently.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Ability to train and mentor employees.
• Business and Financial acumen; knowledge of the insurance industry/multiple lines of business and budgetary controls.
• Strong analytical, decision making and negotiation skills.
• Self-motivated and flexible with ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated proficiency in interviewing, problem solving, communication, time management, and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong customer service, problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Computer literate; advanced Microsoft Office skills (to include data entry accuracy and detail orientation skills).
