The Senior Manager of Retail Software Engineering and Development will focus on building a new team and spearheading the establishment of Builders FirstSource Retail Commerce platform and integrating it with SAP. This role is dedicated to assembling and nurturing a high-performing team, architecting and deploying Point-of-Sale and associated integrations and empowering our organization to drive customer engagement and operational efficiency. As a Senior Manager, you will be a catalyst for innovation and excellence, ensuring that our Retail platform elevates the Builders FirstSource customer experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees and manages IT professionals and consultants as relevant.
  • Collaborates with many cross functional teams in the execution of complex projects.
  • Leads areas of a project from requirements to execution.
  • Follows appropriate agile and/or other development principles to ensure quality and performance standards.
  • Understands where service gaps can occur within work of team and helps implement plans to close service delivery gaps.
  • Manages resources, including allocation of current resources into organizational priorities, developing resource plans and roadmaps for future software engineering needs.
  • Understands business needs, system functionalities and processes.
  • Ensures communication of standards (e.g., coding standards and review)
  • Solves complex and escalated aspects of a project as needed.
  • Reviews design documentation and may assist in triage, debugging, testing, troubleshooting, and threat modeling throughout the development process.
  • Stays current on industry trends, implements, and monitors new technologies, industry trends and best practices.
  • Maintains long-term relationships with vendors and other third-party resources to ensure high quality services are delivered consistently.
  • Collaborates with multi-functional teams to hold technical discussions and solve immediate problems.
  • Provides input to leadership team on development priorities, resources allocation.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has supervisory responsibilities, including but not limited to: supervises assigned team members (in-person and remote); talent selection and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance management, including conducting performance reviews; recognizing team members; addressing and resolving concerns timely, escalating for help when necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • A deep understanding of Point-of-Sale systems, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in implementing, customizing, and managing POS solutions. Proficiency in SAP Commerce architecture, configuration, and integration is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership or management role, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams. This includes recruiting, mentoring, and empowering team members.
  • Familiarity with various retail-specific software solutions, such as inventory management, E-Commerce, CRM, and ERP, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in retail systems and operations.
  • Strong project management skills, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in managing complex retail technology projects. This includes setting project objectives, defining milestones, allocating resources, and ensuring on-time delivery.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in change management and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners to facilitate the adoption of new solutions and manage expectations during implementations.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee the implementation of Point of Sale and SAP Commerce solutions within established timelines and budgets.
  • Change Management: Expertise in change management strategies and the ability to guide the organization through the transition to new SAP Commerce solutions. This includes communication skills, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring a smooth adoption of new processes and technologies.

In addition to the base wage listed, this position is also eligible to earn an annual bonus subject to changes in plan design and documents and in accordance with applicable law.
