Currently we are seeking a Full Time RN- Allergy to join the Group in our Dermatology office in Orchard Park.

No Holidays and No Weekends

Schedule: Monday 7:45a-4:30p, Tuesday 7:00a-3:00p, Wednesday 10:45a-7:00p, Thursday 7:45a-4:30p and Friday 8:00a-12:00p

The RN Allergy position is a very important part of Buffalo Medical Group. Our RNs are expected to maintain the highest level of customer service and professionalism and we ask that you are always courteous, professional and enthusiastic with all coworkers and patients.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• To help assess, monitor and triage patient problems presenting in the office and in telephone communications.
• Acquire knowledge of allergic diseases and asthma; etiology, symptoms, and treatment.
• Paperwork for above. Instructions and labels for extracts. Billing, referral checking, calling for referrals, labels for charge slips, making extract cards and mailings.
• Allergy skin tests-puncture, intradermal and patch testing.
• Blood pressure monitoring, peak flow reading.
• Pulmonary function studies, EKG’s and pulse oximetry.
• Administer allergen immunotherapy.
• Administer other injections-vaccines, steroids, epinephrine, xolair.
• Administer nebulizer bronchodilators.
• Provide patient information regarding medication and allergy avoidance.
• Recognition and treatment of systemic reactions due to allergic extract.
• Basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Prepare materials for patch testing.
• Order and maintain supplies of allergic extract.
• Prepare dilutions of allergen extracts for testing and administration, prepare individual vials of allergen extracts.
• Knowledge of appropriate dosing of allergic extracts and readjustment of dosing when indicated for testing and administration.
• Assist with skin biopsies; suture removal and wound care of biopsy site.
• Clean and sterilize surgical instruments.
• Prepare patients for exam and acquire nursing history.
• Paperwork for allergen extracts sent to other physicians. This includes: instructions and labels for extracts, billing , referral checking, calling for referrals and internal records.
• Triage of telephone calls; patients, physicians and pharmacies.
• Office patient information; reference or insurance, personal information.
• Arrange other physician referrals, x-rays and CT scans.
• Filing of charts and paperwork.
• Checking patients in, escorting to exam rooms.
• Preparing and cleaning exam rooms.
• Cleaning and restocking equipment

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Active New York State License
• Experience with an EMR
