Buckeye Partners is currently seeking an Insurance Risk Analyst with insurance and claims related experience preferably in the Energy Industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

The Risk Analyst role reports to the Senior Manager, Insurance and Credit Risk, with responsibilities to support Buckeye's comprehensive insurance programs and risk mitigation across the enterprise in the areas of contract review, claims oversight, loss forecasting, policy management, and liasing with the business unit teams on insurance related activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Insurance Program Management. Assist with the gathering, compiling, and analyzing of asset and operational data across the organization in order to complete complex insurance applications and develop a detailed, thorough and accurate renewal submission for all lines of coverage.
    • Gather replacement costs/BI exposure documentation from business units for annual renewal and prepare cost/benefit analysis, risk exposures, risk forecasting, and other relevant items.
    • Analyze claims loss history and provide loss forecasting and risk modeling.
    • Assist in the development of underwriter presentations for renewal meetings with commercial markets.
    • Assist in the development of Insurance Renewal presentation for key stakeholders.
  • Claims Administration. Assist with claims management by working with broker, various carriers, and Safety.
    • Provide timely notification of claims to carriers.
    • Obtain, manage, and submit claims-related documentation to carriers.
    • Maintain claims expenses and reimbursement schedule.
    • Monitor outstanding insurance reimbursements.
    • Track incidents, including workers' compensation activities.
  • Budget, Forecast, and Allocations. Prepare annual budget and forecasts as necessary. Closely working with Accounting Department regarding premium allocations.
  • Insurance Assistance. Handle basic insurance related requests from stakeholders including Certificates of Insurance, Auto ID cards as well as general requests for information.
  • Insurance Audits. Process insurance premium audits by collecting and reporting auditable exposures to insurance carriers.
  • Contract Review. Perform due diligence reviews for new or changes to existing contracts. Assist Global Supply Chain personnel and Commercial personnel with insurance negotiations during Contractor/vendor contracting process.
  • Contractor Compliance. Develop and oversee process for receiving and reviewing certificates of insurance, including requests within ISNetworld and related contractor/vendor management tools.
  • Reporting. Provide quarterly and ad hoc reporting regarding active claims, asset declarations, environmental bonds, and other relevant matters to be communicated to key stakeholders.
  • Process Improvements. Assisting key stakeholders to develop and implement standards, processes, programs, and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Finance, Accounting or Risk Management) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 1-3 years insurance and claims related experience required, preferably in the Energy Industry.

  • In order to be successful in this position, one must be able to multi-task and prepare documentation for higher-level approvals.
  • One must be detail-oriented and have excellent analytical skills.
  • Advanced communication skills (written, oral as well as presentation) are also required.
  • Proficiency with interacting with all levels of the company as well as outside customers and vendors.

Essential Functions:

  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • The employee is frequently required to effectively communicate with others.
